Budget Truck Rental is the second largest consumer truck
rental company in the United States, operating through a network of
more than 2,800 corporate owned, dealer and franchised locations
throughout the continental United States, serving both the consumer
and light commercial sectors. Budget Rent A Car System Inc. operates
both Budget Truck Rental and Budget Rent A Car and is a wholly owned
subsidiary of Avis Budget Group, Inc. (NYSE: CAR).
Budget Truck Rental maintains a dependable, late-model fleet
of approximately 30,000 trucks. Specifications may vary based on make,
model and year of truck. Nearly all trucks have a variety of
driver-friendly features including air conditioning, automatic
transmission, power steering, power brakes, and AM/FM stereos. Walk
ramps or lift-gates are available on most models.
Budget also offers a full line of moving equipment and supplies to
assist truck rental customers before and during their moves.
In the famed presidential election of 2000, a Budget truck
made history by transporting Florida’s contested presidential election
ballots from Palm Beach to Tallahassee to decide the election. The
trip made by the Budget truck resulted in tremendous press coverage
throughout the nation.
Budget sold the ballot-carrying truck
on Yahoo! Auctions, and the proceeds – $67,100 – were donated to the
American Red Cross. (For many years, Budget has provided trucks to the
American Red Cross for disaster relief efforts across the country.)
