Might be impetigo, which is a skin infection easily treated with antibiotics. I'd take him to the doctor.

By Kaye on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 - 08:30 am:

another vote for impetigo, take him to the doc

did it start on his cheek and move to his mouth, or vice versa? Or did it all start at the same time.

By Karen~admin on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 - 08:37 am:

Another vote for impetigo..........definitely get to the doc.

By Bobbie~moderatr on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 - 09:17 am:

Impetigo

Get him into the doctor...

By Brandy on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 - 10:05 am:

as far as i know it started on the face first and then to the mouth?

By Debbie on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 - 10:11 am:

Impetigo was going around ds's class last year. It definitly looks like it. It is pretty contagious, so I would get him into the doctor asap.

By Brandy on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 - 10:26 am:

he's going tomorrow at 10:30 am = ) fun fun more money lol...

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 - 11:58 am:

Did you keep him home from school today, if he can't get to the doctor until tomorrow?

By Brandy on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 - 12:51 pm:

It is impetigo.Thanks everyone

By Karen~admin on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 - 02:14 pm:

Hope he's better soon! Check your other DS to be sure he doesn't have/get it too. If I were you, I'd be really careful about washing his sheets, sharing of towels, etc. right now.

Prevent the spread of infection. If you have impetigo, always use a clean washcloth and towel each time. Do not share towels, clothing,
razors, and so on with other family members. Wash the hands thoroughly after touching the skin lesions.

Good general health and hygiene help to prevent infection. Minor cuts and scrapes should be thoroughly cleansed with soap and clean water. A mild antibacterial agent may be used, if desired.

Impetigo is contagious, so avoid touching the draining (oozing) lesions.

Ditto what Karen said. I'm thinking that his towels ought to just go right down to the washing machine, after he's done with a shower and not linger in the bathroom, too.

By Bobbie~moderatr on Thursday, May 24, 2007 - 11:12 am:

Yes it is easily passed back and forth..

By Brandy on Friday, May 25, 2007 - 11:55 am:

He's not contagious anymore = )yay...also when he was it was kind of funny because we didn't know what it was and Danny and Alex were drinking out of the same cup and neither one of them have gotten it = )

By Dawnk777 on Friday, May 25, 2007 - 02:28 pm:

Let's hope they just get lucky and don't get it!
