Happy 42nd Birthday to me!
I always love my birthday. Of course this year, it's bittersweet. The kids went shopping with dh on Sat to buy me presents. They all used their own money and wrapped them themselves. I am taking them out for dinner tonight, along with two children my dd sits on Monday and dd's boyfriend. The kids are dying to show me my presents. They are being so sweet

Ds called from school that his sinuses were killing him. I sent him off with some meds this am but he wanted to come home. He is now asleep.
Dh called this am to get some figures for bills that we pay each month. He didn't mention my bday. Well, that got me crying.
I did, however, make an appt with a counselor for tomorrow am. My insurance will not cover it but I will pay out of pocket, for at least tomorrow's visit. This is a a huge thing for me. I have never gone to counseling before, have no idea what to expect, etc. I need to have a third-party, professional sounding board...that's what everyone keeps telling me, anyway.
Putz---I think that is my favorite word for your Dh. Actually he is not an Dh. He is an AH.
A counselor is a great idea. I am really surprised your medical does not cover it. Did you call and check? Every insurance we have had has included mental health. Ask your lawyer if AH can be billed for it--as he caused your emotional distress.
You have your beautiful and thoughtful children remembering your birthday. You do not need the putz to remember.

Any and all counseling for myself and our kids was put into my petition. I'll pay upfront and keep my receipts and journal.

Happy Birthday, dear Annie!! View this one as the start of a new year and a new and wonderful life. You have demonstrated such strength, grace and class, and your DK's are very blessed to have such an awesome Mom!
I am not surprised that he did not mention your birthday. I'm sure that it was deliberate because he knew that it would hurt you. He is such a self-centered, selfish jerk.
I am glad that you are going to counseling tomorrow. It isn't as scary as you think. You will actually find it very comforting. Bob and I went to counseling when Dan passed away. We had different counselors, mine a woman, his a man. He got nothing from his because he was SO shut down and angry. However, mine was VERY helpful. Not only did I receive help with my grief, but we got into other issues, like my difficult relationship with my Mom. I saw her off and on for about four years, much more often in the first couple years. I will never forget her. She gave me a different perspective on a lot of things.
DO keep accurate records of ALL expenses, plus receipts. Make copies and give them to your attorney.
I was telling Bob (my DH) about you last night. He thinks that "P" is a real fool, and he said, also, that it is a matter of time before *chickie* gets fed up and leaves. He said that, as time goes on, the gap in their ages will become even wider.

And, I'm glad you are going for counseling. Annie, many counseling programs have sliding scale fees when insurance doesn't cover - be sure to ask about that.

We had fun at dinner. Dd didn't have to babysit, so we only took the older child which is a friend to both my dd and ds. DD's boyfriend met us the restaurant.
Dd and boyfriend had me open their present this afternoon so I could wear it. A pair of black capris and a cute tank top.
At the restaurant I opened up a Yankee Candle from dd, a Yankee Candle ceramic holder from ds and a cute pink tank top and oversweater from other dd. They did great!
The kids also "secretly" told the waiters that it was my birthday. After dinner the waiters came out with a huge sombrero, sang Happy Birthday. One waiter fed me fried ice cream with whipped cream. He then placed some on my nose and cheeks. He started to hand me a napkin, then spread it all over my face! The kids thought this was a hoot! I was a good sport because they thought it was so funny. They all laughed out loud and took pictures. (I will try to post some or at least email them to someone to post for me!)
