I know he's only a horse - but

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2007: I know he's only a horse - but
By Ginny~moderator on Monday, January 29, 2007 - 01:29 pm:

tears are just at the edge, when I learned that Barbaro, the Kentucky Derby Winner who sustained broken bones in the Preakness, was euthanized a little earlier today.

I wasn't surprised, given what has been said in the past few days about his condition. There's been a lot on local newsradio and in the Inquirer, because Barbara is a Philly horse.

:( How sad.

I've had an affection for horses since I was little and was really hoping he would pull through. It did look for a while like he would make it. Just goes to show how quickly things can change. :(

I started crying when I heard this news earlier. He was such a beautiful horse, both on the inside and the outside.

Oh no. Emily is going to be so sad. She has followed every step of his recovery. Poor Barbaro.

This made me so sad, too, when I saw it on the news. The only thing that makes it a little better is that the poor thing isn't having to suffer anymore with injuries and illness.

Emily is better now. She did cry, when I told her. I think it just made her Barbaro beanie baby that much more valuable to her.

I was so sad to hear this, too.

Dawn, Emily sounds like such an animal lover.

She is, but she sure has a special place, in her heart, for horses.
