You've got to be kidding!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2007: You've got to be kidding!
By Cat on Monday, January 8, 2007 - 08:51 am:

Guess what our forecast has for Thursday and Friday??? Yep. The white stuff again. They're not saying any accumulation yet so we'll have to wait and see when they update it. Sigh. Enough's enough already! I am hearing that this is what Colorado winters are supposed to be like, though. Apparently we've been in a drought the past five years (we've lived here 5 1/2) and that's why we haven't had a whole lot of snow. I was living in blissful ignorance! lol We're all stocked up on pretty much everything so we'll be okay. The kids are getting stir crazy though! It's supposed to be in the mid 40's the next couple of day. I'll have to send them outside as much as possible as a preventive measure! lol Gotta love it!

By Tonya on Monday, January 8, 2007 - 09:30 am:

How do they deal with school and such during winter time? Do they allow for allot of snow days there?

Good luck to you. We here in Michigan want some of what you have but not anywhere near all of it.

By Kernkate on Monday, January 8, 2007 - 09:46 am:

Wow Cat, you guys must be getting all of PA snow this year. We have had none and are having record breaking temps the past few day. Today there is a flood watch in our area. Really weird weather here this year!
Happy Shoveling to you!

By Cat on Monday, January 8, 2007 - 09:49 am:

Ha, ha, Kathy. You're funny!

Tonya, we do have a few snow days built in to the calendar, but have already gone over that. They're adding 15 minutes to the middle and high schoolers schedules to meet their requirements starting January 16th. I don't know what they're going to do for the elemtary schools. I don't think anyone expected this much snow this year. Denver was having what they're calling "ground blizzards" yesterday that shut down some major roads. That's when it's not snowing but the wind blows so hard it causes the snow that's already on the ground to blow like it is snowing. Crazy...

By Debbie on Monday, January 8, 2007 - 10:26 am:

Wow, Cat. You guys just keep getting dumped on!

We are supposed to get a big snow/ice storm this weekend. I am going to stock up this week because here in Oklahoma everything shuts down when there is a storm.

By Cat on Monday, January 8, 2007 - 11:41 pm:

They're now saying this can be a pretty significant storm. We could probably fish in the river of melting snow as it is right now! It's supposed to be really nice tomorrow and Wednesday and then cool off Thursday and be REALLY cold Friday. Hopefully some will melt before this one hits. We may be looking at a snow day Friday. Monday's a holiday so no school then. I'm ready to go back to my regular schedule of just three kids in the house all day! lol Of course Robin will make four after he finishes this week (for those that don't know he's transferring to a public charter school that's online). Yep, never boring around here... :)

By Debbie on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 - 09:10 am:

Cat, we are suppose to get a big ice storm. It must be coming down from you guys. The boys have off Monday, and it looks like we will be stuck inside. It is only suppose to be in the 20's on Sat, Sun and Mon. I am off to the grocery store this afternoon to fill up my outside refrigerator and stock up. If we get lots of ice, Oklahoma City will shut down!

I didn't know about Robin moving to the charter school. That is great. Is he excited?

By Sandysmom on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 - 09:29 am:

I can't believe you are due for more snow! Here we've barely seen a flake. No fair! LOL! I'm glad you are stocked up. Have fun!

By Cat on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 - 09:33 am:

Yep, Debbie, they're saying we'll be lucky to make it into the teens Friday. BBBRRRrrrr!!!

I posted about Robin getting into the virtual academy on the special needs board.

Believe me, if I could send some of this to those of you that want it I would! I can just imagine the water when this all melts. Too bad none of it's on my grass! lol

By Emily7 on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 - 05:07 pm:

My dh flies out of town on Sunday morning to Denver & then on to KC, I hope nothing changes that. Others from his company are flying back from KC on Thursday into Denver & then home.
And my mail has been so slow because everything goes through Denver. LOL
I can't beleive how much snow you have gotten this year.

By Marcia on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 - 05:43 pm:

It's snowing here right now. I heard that we normally have 30cm of snow by this time, and we've had less than 3, or something like that. We have lots of ski hills around us, and most of them have had to lay off their staff because it's been too warm to even make snow. It's around the freezing mark today, but it's supposed to be around 50 again by the end of the week. I am quite enjoying this El Nino winter!!

By Cocoabutter on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 - 08:29 pm:

23 degrees and falling in Michigan. Finally got about an inch or 2 of snow the past day or so but we can still see grass. :)

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 - 08:44 pm:

22 with a windchill of 14. Brrr. It definitely feels like January! The daffodils that are the earliest of my bulbs to peek out, are just doing that. I think they will be okay, because with the cold weather, they will probably stop growing for a while. One is only JUST poking out and the other one is out about a 1/2-inch or so. I'm glad it got cold again, because I didn't want them to get too big, since it is supposed to get cold again.
