Strange heavy cramping

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2006: Strange heavy cramping
By Reds9298 on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 - 10:23 pm:

Around 4 this afternoon I just started cramping REALLY badly out of the blue. Both sides, totally in the ovaries and through to my back on both sides. I waited, it hasn't gone away. I took Aleve, it hasn't helped much if any. It feels like both my ovaries are swollen on the inside.

I'm a faithful pill user and have been on a new pill for about 5-6mths. I don't have periods anymore, but just spot one day during that week. I'm not due to "start my spot" for about 14 more days. I've never noticed feeling when I ovulate since I've been on this pill. Have any of you ever taken Clomid? It feels just like that - terrible cramping and a feeling of my ovaries being swollen.

It's really strange and not fun. I'm going to monitor it, but I'm a little concerned because it's just out-of-the-blue and not normal for me. Also, because it's on BOTH sides and not one. If it were this bad on one side I probably would have called the doctor (thinking tubal pregnancy or something like that). I feel fine otherwise. I generally have some light cramping for about 2 days before my "spot", but that's all. Any thoughts?? TIA:)

I would call the doctor. They would need to examine you.

Call the nurses line on the back of your insurance card NOW!!! If not there then call in to the local hospital and ask to speak to a nurse. They will ask you more specific ?? Good luck and keep this posted.

That is strange! I agree with the others. Go to the ER if it doesn't get better in another couple hours. Aleve should have stopped the cramping. Could you be miscarrying?

It could be something other than what you think. If the cramping doesn't stop real soon, you need to be seen.

A year ago in November I starting having horrible cramps. They actually felt like contractions it hurt so bad. Made me feel like I wanted to faint. And I've never had very regular cycles nor have I had bad cramping except during delivery of my baby. The doctor said she would schedule testing but in the meantime she gave me some meds that were for gastrointestinal cramping. And it stopped. She said to take them for a month then stop. She gave me the option to go ahead and get the testing done or do the trial of the meds. I did the med trial. Then when I stopped taking them, it did not return. She said it was probably irritable bowel brought about by an antibiotic that I had taken. I've never had IBS symptoms before but the meds for it made it stop. I sure thought my doc was wrong when she gave it to me though.

Let us know how you feel.

How are you today? Did you go to the ER? Please check in.

By Reds9298 on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 - 09:07 pm:

Thank you for asking. I felt it a little this morning and then none at all the rest of the day. It may sound silly, but I was thinking about it earlier this evening and I DID do a new Pilates move yesterday morning. One that really pulls the muscles around that ovary/lower side of the stomach area. I'm wondering now if that wasn't it! It's hard for me to do and I have rarely done it until yesterday morning. Everything seems fine now though. Sorry to trouble everyone, but I was really starting to worry. Thanks for checking in on me! :)

I'm glad that you are feeling better today. Maybe it WAS the Pilates move. I have never done Pilates but I always thought that the moves were GENTLE! :)

Reds, I was worried about you all day. Pilates will kill you if you do it wrong.
