MIA from MV for the last 2 months, just visiting today....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2006: MIA from MV for the last 2 months, just visiting today....
By Dana on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 10:08 am:

I haven't been here since I left for Disney in October. Too bad I haven't been AT Disney since then. Just so busy that I have not allowed myself the luxury of spending time at MV. Just today so far I've been here over an hour reading and posting.

Disney was great and I have some photos to share. Haven't even downloaded them yet. It was the first time I actually enjoyed it and wanted it to last forever, and can't wait to do it again. I want to spend a week next time. Lots more to share on our trip.

I started baby sitting a little girl 2x a week for a nurse who works 12 hours shifts, so I am busy from 6am to 8pm. Lots to share about this event too.

DD is doing great back in second grade. Did I even post that we finally got the approval to hold her back? However, she is having a very rough time adjusting to making new friends and not being with her old friends as much. To make it worse, she has a female bully in her class that is making life awful for her and turning otherwise good kids against her as well. I emailed the teacher just the other day, and have learned that I am not the only parent complaining. Thank goodness for that. They are working on getting things better, but in the mean time it is difficult. Poor teacher. She is so sweet and a great teacher and nurturer. This is her first year w/ her own class and to start w/ a bully...that has got to be rough.

My mom has been ill and in the hospital twice now. She just got home yesterday. She originally had her gallbladder removed but complications occured and she has been sick since Aug. Hoping this is the end of it and she can now heal.

DH is working harder than anyone should have to at his shop. It is electronics and he has SO MUCH STUFF in the warehouse. He works alone, so he is redoing/reoriginzing EVERYTHING in the shop. Some of this is very dangerous. Heavy stuff and high up near the ceiling. He works a full day at the office, comes home for dinner and heads back again and works anywhere from midnight to 2am. He's been doing this everyday, even weekends for 2 months now. And he has barely made a dent in his stuff.

Me, well I just do whatever I do according to everyone else in my life. I have to say I am in a rut and having a difficult time getting out. The house is awful, the yard is awful and the worse it gets the harder it is for me to even want to get up do work. I have spent endless hours sitting or lying on the couch thinking "I need to just get up and do ..." I only get the absolute necessities complete. This is the main reason I have not been here. Figured I needed to clean the house before I could have my play time on the computer.

The baby is almost two now, he's 22 months. And INTO TROUBLE ALL THE TIME! His favorite is spilling liquids everywhere. His next favorite it climbing onto every thing. I can't even have a phone call without and small emergancy needing my attention.

AGGHHHH! Another spill just now. Sent him to time out. I think it doesn't work (we just started this yesterday) The little girl I babysit ran to sit in a chair for time out too thinking it was a good thing. I think it is the hug afterwards that is fueling the desire for time out. Guess I need to rethink my strategy. But OH HE's CUTE! The bell just rang and he shouts "huuuuug, huuuug" running towards me with open arms.

I best get my housework started. The babies will be going mad without some outside play time. Thankfully we have nice weather and a great back yard for playing. Not sure how much I will be visiting MV this month. I sure hope I get my stuff under control and can allow some "me time" soon.

In case you dont' get a chance to check back in, happy holidays to you and your family.

Sounds like your life is CRAZY! Hope you have a happy holiday season, too!

By Dana on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 10:07 pm:

Thanks for the holiday wishes. So far I haven't found the Christmas spirit, but after being here for a while today, I did actually get some of my "must do's" done and tonight did a quick stroll w/ the babies and saw some pretty lighted houses. That helped perk me up. Maybe I will find some time to visit again tomorrow as long as I don't let it consume me. You all have a wonderful holiday season as well!

Hey Dana,

Sounds like you've been busy, glad to see you haven't disappeared. Don't forget us do come back and visit from time to time. :)

Happy Holidays!

I think it would be great if we could all set up a coffee date where once a day we were all online at the same time. Even it was just for 10 mins.
