QUICK, I need help with a recipe for tonights dinner!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2006: QUICK, I need help with a recipe for tonights dinner!

I bought some stuffed green peppers from the meat section at the grocery store today. The pepper is already stuffed with beef and rice, but the beef is uncooked. I thought of asking at the meat counter but i figured I could come home and find a recipe online that would help me. But the ones online have you brown the meat before putting it in the pepper.

I am not sure what degrees to put the oven at or how long to cook it.
If you have any ideas, please let me know a.s.a.p.

thanks!
I wanted to surprise my dh with this dinner since he has been talking about stuffed green peppers for a few years now and i have never made them!

I usually cook them at about 350 and I would say at least a hour. It is hard because it depends on how big they are. I also put a can of tomato soup mixed with a half a can of water in the pan too! Just mix the soup and water together and pour it over the top, cook them standing up! When they are done, we put them on the plate with a little of the juice over it and sour cream! Yummy!!

Thanks Vicki, i decided to just have them tomorrow night. So i will try your idea then.

my mom always cooked them in her pressure cooker. She recently gave me a cooker and her old recipe book. Do you have a pressure cooker and would you like the instructions for their stuffed peppers?

no, i don't have a pressure cooker. But thanks for the offer!

I'm going to try cooking it at 350. They are pretty big, there is a lot of meat in them. I'll just keep an eye on them and put the meat thermometer in and check the temp.

thanks!

They were in the oven for about 1 hour and 5 minutes.
They were o.k., but not great.

oh well, at least we tried something new! I'm sure the ones my mil make are much better than the store bought ones!
