Snow Day!!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2006: Snow Day!!!
By Cat on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 - 09:23 am:

Yeah! We've got about 2-3 inches out there right now and they're saying we'll have 4-8 before it's done. Areas west of us are supposed to get 8-12" with some places getting up to 15-18". The kids aren't up yet but they'll be thrilled. So no baby today (his mom's a teacher) but three extra school age kids (kindy, 1st and 3rd--they're fun!). We're going to make snowflakes to decorate the house! :) Dh was happy because he drove my car to work (he has an Eclipse and I have a 4x4 Durango). Everybody's happy! Of course, that means no karate tonight. I wasn't going to do it anyway (partly because of the sinus infection, partly because I had a meeting at 6 which was canceled because of the snow day--it was at the middle school). But there was an 11yo girl in our class that was supposed to get her Jr. Black belt tonight. She'll be bummed that she has to wait now. Maybe she can make it to tomorrow night's class (at another school--same instructor). If not she'll get it next week. She's a great kid. I'm pretty attached to almost all the kids in our class.

I've checked my hot chocolate and popcorn stash and I'm good for the day! :)

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE snow days.Food colouring in spray bottles is fun if you decide to do snow angels outside.:)

With an expected high of 15 today, I doubt we'll be heading outside, especially since none of the parents bother to pack boots, snow pants or anything other than a jacket and hat (and sometimes mittens/gloves). I've done that with my kids before and it is fun. :)

Robin came downstairs at about 7:30. Here's how the conversation went. :)

Robin: Uh, I think I missed my bus.
Me: OH! I guess you did! *G*
R: Let me guess, there's a delay.
M: What do you think?
R: Either a delay or school was canceled.
M: Which would you rather?
R: Canceled???
M: Yep!
R: YES!!! (with the fist being pulled in to his side)

Randy's not up yet, but he's still fighting the same sinus infection I am. He's already missed two days of school so this will be great for him. :)

LOL,Cat,my DD is the same way.She would rather stay home everyday. On a school morning we need lots of warnings to get up,on a snow day she could be up dressed, fed and outside playing before I've had my morning coffee.

Well,I hope Randy is feeling better today and everybody has fun together.:)

BTW-I used to babysit and I hated it when the kids didn't come with proper clothing for outside.I went to a second hand store and bought extra snowpants/mitts/hats/scarfs.At least it didn't put a damper on the day being stuck inside.

I am soooo not ready for snow. I'm glad you have it and not me. We've had exceptionally great weather here in southern MI the last week, today is going to be 66 degrees, I could live with this all winter. I donate all outgrown boots, coats, snowpants, mittens, etc. to my home daycare, she has the same problem with kids not being properly dressed for winter. What is wrong with some people. Kids love to go outside on the snow days!!! Have a great day no matter what you do. Stay warm and cozy!!!

We could get a little snow tonight and tomorrow. I'm sure not the amount you are talking about, though!

I can just picture him saying, "YES!" LOL!

15 is pretty chilly. We are at 43, right now, but it was 50-something, when I got up this morning.

Oh, nap time! lol The kids have been ROWDY this morning! They've had fun, though. The neighbor came over (10yo) so I had 8 from 2yo-13yo. Three are asleep right now and the rest are playing video games. It's about 12 degrees now and the wind picked up a bit so the online weather says it feels like -2!!!

Oops! I spoke too soon. One woke up. Oh well. :)

Oh, I posted pics on the photo board. :)

LOL Cat, sounds like everyone is having a fun day. We are suppose to get 5-8 inches of snow here in Oklahoma tonight/tomorrow. Gosh, I feel like I am back in Chicago. We were 75 yesterday, and now the windchill is in the teens. My boys are so excited. I have a feeling they will cancel school tomorow.

It was in the 60's here today, but it's supposed to snow by Friday.
I always get a headache when the weather changes drastically like that :( i'm not looking forward to it.

It sounds like you are having a fun snow day!
