Okay how many are going Black Friday shopping?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2006: Okay how many are going Black Friday shopping?
By Beth on Thursday, November 23, 2006 - 10:05 pm:

I have went the last several years. Dh and I actually go together. But his mom is not with us now. So we can't just leave the kids sleeping and go so that kind of changes things. My dh told me I could go. But I told him to do it. Truth is I would rather sleep in. I can't believe I am saying that. The only thing I really want is my free snow globe from JcPenny's LOL!! I have the last few couple of years. We will see if he really gets up at 4:30. I kind of doubt it. I am leaving tommorrow to go out of town to and I think I may do some shopping Sat. I hope all you brave souls have fun.

Not me! I will happily be sleeping in. I can't stand the crowds! My shopping is done.
My sister loves going to these sales and gets up at 4:00 AM to get ready to go. I cannot imagine it. She can't imagine shopping early. LOL :)

Never have and don't really see it in my near future. We're buying a digital camera for my parents for Christmas and we got the Black Friday sale we wanted already at Target online. Just click and shop...in my jammies! :)

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, November 23, 2006 - 11:20 pm:

Nope. I have to work at 8am and I'd rather sleep. That's too much craziness for me! The crowd at Walmart today (we had to buy Christmas lights) was much more to my liking.

By Cocoabutter on Thursday, November 23, 2006 - 11:23 pm:

Not me. I am waiting to see how many people get trampled in the door of Walmart this year...

By Brandy on Thursday, November 23, 2006 - 11:33 pm:

I think i'm going to be a nice sister in law and try to get to best buy to get a photo printer and with it comes a free battery and bag she said she wouldn't really care about the bag so i said fine i would use it lol...hopefully they have plenty so i can get one it says it's a 2 day sale so they should have enough for awhile although i plan on getting there about 4 am lol..

By Rayelle on Thursday, November 23, 2006 - 11:44 pm:

I am going, although i shouldn't be up right now, lol. This is the first year my dh doesn't have to be at work early and my dear fil is sleeping here tonight to be with the kids for us to both hit some deals. my dd really wants an easy bake and walmart has one for $10. Walmart is really the only place to go around here.

Not me. It's the only day I get to sleep past 6:30 am for 3 weeks and I will be taking advantage of it.

DS works at the Mall and has to be at work at 4:30 am and they told them not to expect to leave before 6 pm.

Well i went and conquered best buy but i didn't get the most popular thing on their list either when me and nick got there it was wrapped around the entire store and then we were waiting for the end of the line i soon realized if we waited it would be longer so we walked through to the end lol...once we got in it was really packed of course i finally got through to a side aisle thanks to my adorable son = ) excuse me excuse me and then of course i would say excuse me to get to him = ) after that we went over to where the printers were and an older lady had them i asked her where she got it and she said up front and then i asked one of the guys and he showed me = ) then the guy had to get the bag/battery bundle for the other lady so he got me one at the same time and i got one of the last three woohoo = ) we started up to the store at 4:55am too so by the time we got up there they already blew the horn and were letting people in..another funny thing is when we went to hunt for the checkout lane this lady was directing people to the back for the checkouts and i said well i'm moving over here just to be out of the way in the meantime they started opening registers up front with virtually no wait at all..So i got in and got out i told nick boda bing boda boom lol = )

By Beth on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 08:15 am:

Well my dear dh did go and he did get my globe. What a guy. I don't think he could really sleep in any way so I guess he just figured what the heck. He was back by 6:30.

By Dawnk777 on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 08:23 am:

Wow, Brandy and Beth, I'm glad you two got what you wanted. Best Buy sure sounded like a mad house. Even on a good day, I don't always like going into Best Buy, because they always have the music too loud!

By Bellajoe on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 10:06 am:

I don't really see the point. The stores have their BIGGEST EVER SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD SALE!" Like every week from now to Christmas. :) Why get up at 4 a.m.? I'm not a morning person, the earliest i get up is 7 a.m. and that's because the kid wake me up then.
I think i'll do most my shopping online this year. My kids really have nothing in mind that they want, which makes it kind of hard for me.
Brandy and Beth, i'm glad you both got what you wanted!

By Brandy on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 11:09 am:

= ) we went out later and got some printer paper and ink for my printer and i'm loving my new bag lol Nick has tried to get it from me several times so far for his pokemon cards i don't EVEN think so lol = ) it's already packed up = )

By Nicki on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 01:40 pm:

My MIL has been up and about shopping. She loves this day. Not me. I'm still in my comfy clothes, drinking coffee and trying to remember where we put our outdoor Christmas lights, lol. Lara and I will put up the lights and stay close to home. Hope everyone has a good day!

By Dawnk777 on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 04:33 pm:

Our Christmas lights are up!

What is black friday shopping?

By Dawnk777 on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 08:45 pm:

Getting up in the middle of the night, to be at the store, for a 5am o 6am opening, to get super deals on special items. Most of the deals would have been advertised in your Thanksgiving newspaper.

It's the big Christmas shopping day, the day following Thanksgiving.

By Tripletmom on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 08:51 pm:

Thanks,Dawn.I'd rather sleep in too.Do you get midnight madness at all before Christmas?

By Dawnk777 on Friday, November 24, 2006 - 09:21 pm:

Stores are open really long hours, right before Christmas. I don't remember something specifically called Midnight Madness.

By Kaye on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 08:53 am:

I went..LOL. I love going, I love the crowds. This year I had 3 of my sis inlaws go with me. Probably the neat part is seeing the Christmas spirit in the crowd, I stood in line with at least 100 other people at circuit city, everyone was laughing and joking and talking about being awake. Now toysrus can be mean and viscious, but most other places it is nice.

So why did I get up? I got a portable dvd player, with a case, for 50 dollars. I got my husband some headphones he has been looking at that are normally 40, for 15 dollars. I got a game cube game my son has been looking at, just went on sale for 30 last week for 15. I bought about 6 movies on the list each for 4 dollars. My shopping is almost done. I have a couple of things to order and a couple of things to pick up for the kids, it was a great a day.

Last year my biggest find was those 20Q games for 5 dollars and magnadoodles for the same.

Never in a million years! I am an online shopper. My DD wanted the Princess TV for DGD this year, so I told her I'd get it. I ordered it from walmart.com and had it shipped right to her door.

Two years ago, when DGD was on the way, DH and I wanted to get them a video camera for Christmas. He and DS Shawn got up before dawn to go to Walmart. He said it was chaos. I guess they had bikes on sale and a man asked Shawn if he wouldn't mind 'guarding' his bikes. Shawn said that he would, then another lady asked him to do the same. He did. LOL! They got the video camera, but they said they'd never do it again.

I like my sleep. :)
