We're home and getting ready for Kindergarten tomorrow!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2006: We're home and getting ready for Kindergarten tomorrow!
By Eve on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 - 12:35 pm:

The trip went well and the kids did great flying. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Security was intense leaving home (thankfully, they didn't make me walk into the closed thing that blows the air on you with the baby!), and it was almost nonexistant when we were leaving TN. We're glad to be home!

Now, Kindergarten starts tomorrow! I have lots of little things to do, and DD has been weepy all day long. I hope it's not because of school! I'll be sure to post photos as soon as I can! My internet has been up and down. *fingers crossed*:)

Glad your trip went well! Hope your internet behaves. Your daughter is probably a little nervous about school.

Hey Eve, I was wondering if you were home yet! Glad to hear your trip went well. Looking forward to seeing pics and hearing more details. :)

I would imagine part of the reason for Syd being weepy is from her routine being thrown off while in TN. Don't be surprised if she has a tough time for the first month or so of school. It can be a tough transition going from PT preschool to Kindergarten M-F. Tough for Mom, too! At least it was for me. LOL! Getting kids up, ready and out the door on time can be challenging. Will Syd be taking the bus or will you be driving her?

I am glad you had a nice time. Good luck tomorrow! Is she full or half day?

By Fraggle on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 - 01:56 pm:

Glad to hear your trip went well. My kids always need a little adjustment time when they get back from a trip. Usually we get to spend a lot of time together during the trip and as soon as we are home it seems like there is no free time anymore-there is stuff to unpack, laundry, mail to catch up on, etc.
My youngest DD starts kindergarten this week, too. Tomorrow she goes in just for her screening and then one full day on Thursday before a 4 day vacation. I wish she just started after Labor Day. My 2nd grader starts school tomorrow.

Ok, I'm feeling overwhelmed! Thank Heaven DH is taking tomorrow off to help see DD off on the bus!:)

Syd will be going in the afternoon along with all the kids in our neighborhood. (There are a LOT that we just met!) One of the neighbors had an ice cream social after the meet and greet at school. I'm flustered, but happy to have her start.:)

Trina, I sent you an email, but with our problems, it must not have gotten to you.

Syd seems better this afternoon, but I have butterflies that won't quit! It's been years since I've experienced actual butterflies! LOL

Good luck, Meredith!

Kindergarten Wonder
By Wendy Silva

I wonder what you're doing right now
And if everyone is treating you kind
I hope there is a special person
A nice friend that you can find

I wonder if the teacher knows
Just how special you are to me
And if the brightness of your heart
Is something she can see

I wonder if you are thinking about me
And if you need a hug
I already miss the sound of your voice
And how you give my leg a tug

I wonder if you could possibly understand
How hard it is for me to let you grow
On this day, know that my heart breaks
For this is the first step in letting my baby go

GOOD LUCK!!! I know she will have a great time. Dylan loves it. :):)

This is making me cry! I think both of the kindergarten teachers, my kids had, knew this about both of my kids! They both had older women for kindergarten teachers and they were both soooo sweet! I have fond memories of both!

I was the mom picked, out of several to bake the gingerbread cookies, for the Christmas activity, in Sarah's room and I felt very honored. (They made their own, out of globs of dough. The kitchen area, was just down the hall, fromt the classroom. It was just one activity that morning.)

With Emily's teacher, I remember being there for some special day and we had a few minutes left, before school was done for the day, so she suggested that we read to our kids. Although, with me, she said Emily could probably read to me, and Emily actually did.

Glad your back EVE!! :)

Don't cry to much tom...LOL

I know when mine started I cried but eventually it feels good to know they are making friends, and learning.
