Should I call a doctor? I have this happen about once every 6 months or so. I looked on the internet and it looks like it could be a myriad of things.

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 - 02:46 pm:

yes call the doctor

it could be something minor or something worse.

call the doctor just to be safe. Do you have any stomach cramping or anything like that?

By Marcia on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 - 02:47 pm:

Is it bright red or dark? If it's bright it could just be a tear from a constipated type of bowel movement. It could also be from hemorrhoids(sp). If it's darker blood, that means it's old and typically coming from somewhere higher up. It's certainly worth mentioning to your doctor.

Call the Dr it could be something that a simple cream could clear up but it could also be more serious.

I would go to the doctor. As others have mentioned, it could be a simple thing, but it also could be more serious!

Absolutely call your doctor. It could well be nothing, but, as you have learned, it could be one of a myriad of things. It definitely needs attention, and if it were me, I'd ask the doctor for a referral to a gastroenterologist, who might want to do some tests.

YES! Call the doctor... it could be something minor, but is not a symptom to play around with!! ((((Anon))))

Yes, please see a doctor. My dh had your same symptoms last year. I MADE him go to the doctor. He ended up having a very large polyp. If these go untreated, they can become cancerous. They removed the polyp, and did a biopsy. Thank God, it was not cancerous. Dh does have a history of colon cancerin his family. So, now he has to go for a checkup every year.

As everyone mentioned before, it could be nothing. But, you do need to be checked out.
