I am now picking out colors for my house. I am having a terrible time picking out the color for the kitchen.
We will have sort of brighter Cherry Colored (maple cabinets and the finish is called Brandywine) cabinets and beech hardwood floors. I don't want a white, or beige color in the kitchen, i want it to be bright and cheerful. Also, the kitchen is open to the family room which will be a different color.

click on homeowner, and interior, and then Launch color visualizer. then type in "great green" and that is the color i have been thinking about.
Do you think it is to green? I just don't want it to be too much, kwim?
honest opinions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks ladies!

I think it's a pretty color. I "painted" a dining room with it, and thought it was a pretty color. Not too bright, and not too pale. I like greens with reds, too. I also like yellows with reds.

I think it will look great with cherry stained cabinets. I like Secret Garden 6181 as a trim color with it. What color are your floors and counters?

I love the green. I am doing our new great room/kitchen in yellows, reds and greens. I love that color combination.

Debbie, my den and kitchen are in those colors. Den wall is yellow with kitchen walls one shade brighter. Armoire is fire engine red, kitchen chairs and accent furniture in den are candy apple green. I love it! I would have never picked those colors in a million years, but I hired a decorator to pick colors for me and that's what she picked out. She walked around my house, picked up a Mary Englebreit potholder from my kitchen and picked all of the colors from that.

Bellajoe, I love the green too! I think it will look great with the cherry stain.

Oops! I meant Granny Smith apple green.

My living room is a similar color. We have Benjamin Moore Kennebunk, or kennebunkport green.

LOVE that color Patti! It's very similar to what I've been considering for *my* kitchen!

The green looks nice, although I have never been a green fan. :)

I like bright colors, so that would qualify. But for a kitchen, I like reds. My dream kitchen would be a throw back to the 50's in red, white, and black. http://www.elmirastoveworks.com/

I have heard that you don't want to do kitchen in bright colors b/c they increase the appetite and you will be more likely to overindulge. I say, "DUH." The kitchen is supposed to be a place where we go to enjoy the fine art of creating nourishing food and good relationships. All without which we could not survive. So I say the brighter the better!

you ladies ROCK!! :)

I also like reds, but my dh is not a fan of the color red and refuses to have any shade of red on a wall, so i am going to use red as an accent color.

Our family room will be 'Restrained Gold', so that will be a yellowy color and then i will used red accents in both rooms..like throw pillows and stuff like that.

Our trim is going to be white throughout the house. We have not picked out the countertops yet.

thank you SO much ladies, i knew i could count on you.
