LOL! Love it!
By Dawnk777 on Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 01:27 pm: | LOL! Not quite there yet, but should be fairly soon!
By Deek on Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 04:17 pm: | That or power surges..too funny, Kernkate...how are the Pocono's...still miss them!
I have my own personal summer - permanently, it seems! For those who haven't yet experienced the *joy* of menopause, there IS an OTC supplement that really does work for the night sweats - Estroven. You can take it with or without HRT too.
Karen, a friend of mine swears by Estroven. She also warned that she tried a generic brand once and it was NOT the same.
By Bea on Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 07:05 pm: | Nothing helps my heat waves. I took ERT for years after my hysterectomy but it didn't help that aspect. I just carry several folding fans in my purses and fan like crazy.
By Kernkate on Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 08:48 pm: | Deek, the Pocono area is starting to finally get the spring look! All the fields and farms in our area are coming to life. I just love this time of year
By Mommmie on Sunday, April 16, 2006 - 12:15 am: | LOL! I can handle the hot flashes okay, it's the brain issues that are getting me - faulty memory, fuzzy thinking, lack of concentration, forgetfulness... I guess the upside is I can't hold a grudge even if I wanted to. I can't remember who I'm mad at.
By Vicki on Sunday, April 16, 2006 - 08:09 am: | I recently saw a magnet that read: I am still hot! It just comes in flashes now. I thought it was funny too!!
Mommmie - the lack of concentration is HUGE for me! For a while, I was convinced I had adult onset ADD. Seriously! LOL Now I realize it is due to menopause.
By Bea on Sunday, April 16, 2006 - 12:28 pm: | lack of concentration is a MAJOR symptom of depression also. Don't always blame your age.
Yep, sure is, and I realize that. And in all honesty, in light of the past couple years, that could be a distinct possibility. But I'm on Paxil, and I have been depressed in my life before, and I honestly don't feel depressed. I really think, in my case, it's due to menopause. But that's always a good thing to consider, Bea.
By Mommmie on Sunday, April 16, 2006 - 09:05 pm: | Not depression for me, thank goodness (had it when I was 17-18 so I recognize it).
I haven't had depression with my menapause but, boy the hot flashes and night sweats are always reminding me that Im getting older. I use a generic brand of estrogen and it helps some but, not a whole lot. Maybe next time i will try the name brand and compare.
Barb, I am on Cenestin, and when the hot flashes are really bad, particularly the night sweats, I use Estroven for a while and it helps a lot. I *thought* I was pretty much through the worst of it, but the last few weeks, it seems to have gotten its second wind!
By Deek on Monday, April 17, 2006 - 07:51 am: | karen..I love estroven..it has helped immensely..even with my foggy brain! Kernkate..isnt it a beautiful Spring..yesterday was amazing.. Of course, i read this thread yesterday morning..went to church and had a massive hot flash ..if I wasn't so uncomfortable I would have laughed!!
I didn't realize the foggy brain as you girls put it had to do with menapause. I used to be so organized and a head of myself with every thing and it seems like any more Iv becomes a last minute person on things and i don't like this. Im a warm blooded person already and have been for years but, with the menapause it's worse. My doctor has told me for years that I was to young for menapause and I said then tell my body this.
