Have you ever complained(Fast food question)

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2006: Have you ever complained(Fast food question)
By Jackie on Saturday, April 8, 2006 - 07:50 am:

Have you ever complained about a fast food place? We normally do fast food one time a week. Yesterday I had to take my 6 yr old for a recheck of her stitches, so when we left I went to the drive thru of McDonalds. This is not a normal one for us, but close to the drs office. It was 2pm. There was only one car ahead of us. I order 2 Happy meals. One the 2nd Happy Meal I ordered a lemonade. The lady told me they lemonade was not working. Ok, so I ordered a different drink. My son wanted a Mcflurry, I ordered it, she tells me the ice cream machine is not working. Then I ordered the apple pie(my sons 2nd choice)she said they did not have any.
Can you say Frustration?? So I go to pay, and have to still wait 15 minutes, with just one car in front of me. When I got to the food window, it looked like some sort of manager there. He looked all of 19 or so.So I complained to him,and he did not say much except hand me an empty cup with the McDonalds phone number on there and told me to complain.
I did complain on the website, so we will see if anything comes of it
Normally we dont have problems with fast food, but yesterday was unbelievable.

Yes, I complained once about a McDonalds. It wasn't one we normally go to, we were traveling. We waited for 30 minutes in the drive thru line. We got up to get our food and I could see employees just standing around talking as we waited...waited...weaited for our food. When we finally got it, the order was completely wrong! It made me so mad after watching employees behind the counter just talking away and no one doing anything. I did complain. They sent me $10.00 in gift certificates and an apology letter.

No, our McDonald's are usually pretty accurate and pretty fast!

The McD's that we like to go though, has a really ditzy lady on window, now. She screws up our order more often than not! I like getting a double hamburger meal and often I get a double cheeseburger anyway. You would think she would learn where that double hamburger button is, by now! She's always apologetic and fixes my order fast enough, but why can't she get it right the first time!

It means we keep going to another McD's, where they don't screw our order up, because we don't want to deal with that particular woman. It's not like we can just go in another line, either, because she is the ONLY one taking orders.

I have complained before for lousy service and product. I don't hesitate either. Fast food or sit down restraunt. When I order something that I am paying for I expect good service and food. If the place screws up more than 2 times I won't go back.

Yes, I have complained before. I have to say that generally around here if you have a long wait for food/service you always get immediate apologies and free meal or free dessert offered to you.

The last time I complained I had gotten all the home with my meal and it was wrong. I called to let them know what happened and the manager told me to come back right away if I could and get the correct order at no charge and keep this meal or keep my rcpt and come in for meal at my convenience. Always very kind and apologetic. I do notice the service, the cleanliness and the food. If any of the above is bad more than once we dont go back.

When we were in London we ate at a rather foo foo rest on accident (well, there were 2 hr waits everywhere else for a table!!)... First of all, a guy that suggested the place told us we were dressed ok for it. Ahem, we we VERY under dressed when we got there. We ended up having to sit at the Sushi bar- no tables- ewwwww lost my appetite right away from the smell. Then when I asked for help with menu- the girl was NOT helpful at all. So I was a little frustrated trying to figure out what to order. (no description of meal) We were never offered water. When she brought my wine the glass was less then half full- keep in mind one glass was about $13 U S dollars !!!! :) We waited a very long time for our meal and mine was about $45 U S dollars . It came with 3 or 4 leaves of lettuce, 3 shrimp, and 4 bites of lobster... that was it. :) I was TICKED OFF to say the least. I ordered a second glass of wine and it came even LESS full. We were never asked if our meal was ok, if we needed anything else, or if we wanted dessert or coffee afterwards. The waitress was a total snot and of course we still tipped her. Which I hated to do. We spent over $100 U S dollars for our dinner that night and left hungry. We didnt complain because we knew we would never be back and never recommend the place to anyone that was visiting London. The food was not great and if I am paying out my nose for a meal, I expect the food to be out of this world GOOD...

Everywhere ekse we ate had GREAT food and great service though on the trip! Well, we did have a one mean flight attendant. But that's another post. lol

I turned Popeye's into the Health Department after I got a partially raw chicken sandwich for the second time. The first time I forgave it, but the second time, I was just like, ok, you guys need a wake-up call.
Also, I did complain about Burger King for taking so long.

I also went to the health department when we got a chicken nugget Happy Meal from McDonald's and the chicken nuggets were raw inside. Luckily, my daughter who picked her food apart happened to tear the nugget in half before eating it. I put all 3 kids in the car, and they got to watch Mommy demand to see the manager. :)

We rarely eat fast food - other than pizza or tacos, but I have, in the past, complained when orders were messed up, or the food was not good. Particularly with the local pizza place - and I've gotten free pizzas for my trouble.

Sometimes we'll run through the drive-thru @ the local Taco Bell, and they inevitably mess up the order almost every time - guess they can't count, or they just don't care - and I have told DH more times than I can count to check the order BEFORE he leaves the window. He usually forgets to do it though.

ohhh i just did this. Not only did I complain in person to the head waitress but also in writing. the waitress was just being a snot. She was straight out was rude. The waitress said she was sorry and would speak to her about it. The girl was the owners granddaughter and she is pg and has a two year old and isnt married. I feel bad for her but thats no reason to be rude and mean to us. Its a mom and pop place tho she has nothing to do with the food except for presenting it on to the table she needed to buck up and pretend to smile or go have a screaming/crying fit in the back and get it out of her system or go home. sorry i dont expect much from people just a lil respect.

p.s. i havent been back since ...tho i miss the friends we had made there. they made me a special coffee and would make me someting off the menu for my special diet.( theyd do that for about anyone but i felt special lol )

I've had so many bad experiences with fast food places we stopped going to them about 6 or 7 years ago.

Generally speaking, sometimes I complain and sometimes I let it go. I complain the most during the 3 days before my period. I'm more forgiving during the rest of the month.

By Annie2 on Saturday, April 8, 2006 - 10:55 pm:

The McDonald's near our house screws up almost every order! After coming home with many orders screwed up or forgooten items, I've learned to check everything; even the special orders with their sticker stating that it was "checked". LOL

I've called to complain several times. They would put my name on a list. The next time I would go I would tell them, then I would get the item. However that doesn't satisfy someone when they want to eat something for dinner and the fries, etc are not there!
