Can you cook purple cabage like regular cabage?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2006: Can you cook purple cabage like regular cabage?

I'm in the mood for cabage, but only have purple. Will it taste bitter or something if cooked? I've never seen it cooked, only in salads and slaws.

TIA

Yes, you can cook it like regular cabbage. Scott, who used to be a chef, says it is a little more "sour" than regular cabbage. And watch out, because the liquid will stain everything and anything it touches a nice shade of pink.

Thanks for the warning on the stains. After cleaning up Mango juice, pizza sauce and homemade baby food (combo of broc and carrot among other stuff!) within the last 2 hours, I think I will just make slaw LOL!

So glad I checked here first.
