Canon Powershot 2S IS

I found some money to buy a camera. DH had a huge Tupperware container of change sitting around for the last few years and I thought I bet you there is at least $300.00 in there. All I would have to do is add another $100 and I would have plenty to buy a new camera. Well there was $800.00 in that container so now I have enough for a camera and an MP3 Player. WooHoo! DH laughed at me when I told him I was going to roll up that change and buy a camera with. Well guess who's laughing now. He wanted to know what his cut was. I told him that his cut was no longer worrying about me charging a new camera to the credit card.

I thought I wanted an Digital SLR but you can't take video with these kinds of cameras and I don't want to buy a video camera as I know I will rarely use it. I've done some reasearch on this camera and it looks great. I have an older verson the Powershot A75 and I liked it until Matthew dropped it on the floor a few thousand times.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this camera before I go out and buy it.

I don't have that one, but I have a Canon G2, and LOVE it. I've gotten some amazing shots with it. I'm not experienced enough for a full-fledged SLR, but the G series was a good compromise, since you can add lenses, and other neat things, but it's still point-and-shoot. Of course, no one else seems to be able to get a decent shot with it, like if I ask someone to take a picture of us with it, it comes out like crap. LOL!! It's still my baby!
