Feona was diagnosed with breast cancer in early October. This past Monday she went into the hospital for a bilateral masectomy and removal of lymph nodes on the left and starting of breast reconstruction.

I'm visiting her right now and she asks that everybody over 40 please get a mammogram!
The earlier any problem is found the better the chance to recover.

She thanks everyone for the well wishes.

I will be praying hard for a speedy recovery and will continue to pray. My mother had a mastectomy last March, so far so good with her. Keep us informed.

I am shocked to find out it was stage 3 cancer.

So I have a 59 percent chance of being alive in 5 years.

cancer 6 nodes. one tumor over 6cm. Her2 agressive about 4 or 5 tumors in one breast.

I ignored the tumor for years. I just thought It was aging of the breast.

I am used to ignoring things so I think I knew years ago and ignored it. Ignored or overlooked or pushed aside. Or pushed under my concious like you would do a terrible thought.

I remember thinking it was cancer about two years ago and them surpressing the thought.

I breast fed for 7 years and have two kids. The oncologist said I shouldn't have gotten it so young with those protective things. I am also only 45. So the tumor was growing at least three years.


I am being very honest and showing how stupid I was so other people can learn form my mistake. I know I wouldn't learn from my mistake. I was always too busy to take care of my health.

Feona, sorry you are foxing through this. We all ignore things, but what is done is done. Now you need to focus on the positive. You did go in and you are getting treatment! Studies show that attitude really matters. Prayers being said. Also thanks for the honesty and the reminders that we need to take care of ourselves!

Thanks! I appreciate it. Do you know anyone else with breast cancer? There seems to be alot of women here in long island I have been meeting with the disease. Some young women too which I find strange.

Hey Feona this is Debra Kay. Remember me? I've been gone a while because of Breast Cancer also. I'm finished with my Chemo and Radiation and have been awaiting reconstruction. This is my 3rd bout with the monster. First got it in 2005 then 2008 and 2010. I'm doing good and was stage 2.
