WE're on our fith or sixth major storm of the season. It has ben -4--2 WIndchill and we're operating business as usual. Our old home in New York - well, my sympathies. New York and snow are bad because no one knows how to drive or be a pedestrian in snow filled streets. No one knows you can't stop if they dash in front of your car or if you can't cut off a car without consequences.

Originally grew up with lake effect snow storms - sorry to all my northern and midwest friends - hear you're getting tons. Friends in Canada are wondering what all the fuss is about.

Love to hear how everyone is faring. Seems like wherever I look there's snow or fires or tornadoes or floods.

We've had a rough last year down here where I'm at. The last batch of snow was an inch or so & it was beautiful. We were hit with a major ice storm the latter part of January that had our power out for 10 days. The entire electric infrastructure for our area had to be rebuilt from the damage that was done.

Fortunately we don't get very cold down here for very long or get large amounts of snow. When it does snow, it tends to stop everything in its tracks.

In the past year in our area we have had two floods, a record tornado that was on the ground for over 100 miles, and a massive ice storm.

We're ready for some quiet, calm weather for a change.

Hi Kate,

Wow. Arkansas is a happening place (just kidding). So much that is happening nationally originated in your state. The electric thing is inconvenient to some people but when you hav kids it takes on a life of its own. We have never had a generator here because we came from city where such occurences are rare. Do you have well water and septic. That was a big one for us when power went out last. Also loss of heat and cooking. Generator may be on the horizon depending on cash flow.

I'm not sure I could deal with the threat of tornados regularly. Do they happen often in your area - what do you do?

We had one here that lasted only minutes on the ground but created mega destruction. I actually saw the destruction in my rear view mirror because it followed a road I was on with a rock cliff on one side that channeled part of the storm. Not an experience that I want to repeat...

Well may sunny skies be yours today.

Just when I got used to spring weather, warm breeze - light jacket. we woke up to a snow covered valley. 3-5 inches - 2 hour school delay. My little guy is thrilled - more time to play Pokemon.

we were just talking about snow today .... I'd LOVE to go to it again (we have storms here, but they are of the hurricane & tornado variety, with various brushfires thrown in for good measure !)

I'd love to go visit family for a snow storm, just to let the kiddos play in it for awhile .... see what it's like to have to deal with it. BUT alas, we have no close family (and with 4 kids, you can't descend upon just anyone, it HAS to be close family !) up north to visit during that time of the year !
