Who's already started planning for NEXT Christmas ?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Who's already started planning for NEXT Christmas ?
By ~harlena on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 - 12:08 am:

Obviously, I've already started planning the next couple of holidays .... but who (besides me) has started planning for Christmas 2009 ?

AND .... what are you planning ?

Well, so far, I've bought some decorations and stuff (doesn't everybody do that ?), I haven't started in on gifts yet, but I have gotten a headstart on the next birthdays. I've taken advantage of after Christmas sales for hubby's birthday (01-28, one of those valet with spots for charging electronic devices things) son's birthday, (01-10) can't say right now, and daughter's birthday too (02-16) .... I'm pretty set for most of those three ..... how about ya'll ?

Not yet. I am always the last minute shopper. I do thoughhot walmart when there stuff goes 75% off. I get a few ornimants and stuff. I did buy the new led lights for next year. They seem so much brighter

I still haven't even begun recuperating from this christmas!!! I don't even want to think about it! LOL

I went to Kohl's because I had earned $20 in Kohls Bucks while Christmas shopping - I ended up buying a couple of gifts that I know I will be giving next year....but at great savings! Other than that, my wrapping supplies are still pretty good, as are our decorations.

Heidi, where did you find them for 70% off? All of our stores are still 50%. We are trying to hold off for 75%. Last year we got some awesome deals on lights.

I just noticed today, Walgreens and Target were both 75% off .....

I try to take advantage of those clearance prices for the next birthday party (I have one to do in January as well as February) ....

I think it was Lowe's, actually! :) I also got a CUTE handmade Christmas dress that was 70% off at a cute local boutique for our little girl that's due in April.

Hmmm, I'll have to check out the Home Depot. We don't have a Lowe's. I just keep checking Wal-Mart. They were still at 50% today.

I am THRILLED .... haven't been to WalMart since Christmas, but ran in today (need stuff for lunches tomorrow !) and they still had Christmas stuff left .... I saw another house that had a lighted wreath in each window and it looked BEAUTIFUL ....

I was able to get wreaths and lights to go on each wreath, one for less than $2 apiece, enough or each upstairs window .... yeah !!!

Still looking for a tree for next year, Dh says this tree isn't going to make it another year, I LOVE my tree, but every year, there's some piece that doesn't stay on, or wrap around anymore. BUT I cannot find a tree that's as full as this one is (sure, I could go to a specialty store, but I don't have that kind of money to spend on a tree at Thanksgiving time when there are 4 mumchkins to provide Christmas to ..... !)

I'll just hope for a "tree fairy" to deliver me a full beautiful, perfectly together tree by next year. Sounds good to me !!!

I was excited too, this weekend, when I went to the store. I was looking for wrapping paper. "Santa" almost ran out on Christmas Eve. I found some rolls for 50 cents apiece.

I'm also looking for lights for our house, but I need a lot of them. I don't know if I'll find any. I may have to go out and be part of the After-Christmas Sale crowd. Hmmmmm.

When my adult kids were younger I would plan totally on a cash basis for Christmas. I would open a Christmas club account and layaway anything I could. It meant that I didn't owe anything after Christmas. I picked the longest layaways so the stuff wasn't in the house and I paid as I went. This year I will have a Christmas club account. You get the money in October. It separates Christmas $ from the rest of my finances and it clearly defines my limits.
