Anyone have any cures for sinus pain?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Anyone have any cures for sinus pain?
By Feona on Sunday, December 21, 2008 - 07:18 pm:

I stopped drinking milk and eatting milk products which helped 90%. Everyone knows drinking milk decrease mucus.

I started getting the sinus pain after I had a wisdom tooth extracted.

I just had a deep cleaning of the house to remove dust. I think that helped.

Thanks!

I have the neti pot.

Any other advice?

Not really a cure, but what works for me to soothe is a nice hot cup of peppermint tea and I also use a vaporizer. I have also started using Mucinex D this year when I have a lot of mucus.
If I remember right the sheet I had when I had a toothe removed said that it can sometimes cause problems with the sinuses. Do you think you need to call your dentist?

Sudafed always helps me (seems to be the only thing besides antibiotics). However, since you did have a tooth removed recently I would like Emily said call the dentist. The sinuses and teeth are so close, problems in one often causes problems in the other. Quite often the only way I know I have a sinus infection is because my teeth hurt. Good luck, Feona. Sinus problems stink--lots of experience there!

It think it was like a year ago I had the wisdom tooth removed. I got rid of the tmj that resulted by going no milk. (or pretty much no milk products)

I think I am accidently eatting milk products right now because I ordered some italian take out food. I think there was some milk hidden in some of the sauces. I have to be more aware of what I am eatting. I am going to try to drop butter and get some fake milk to leave in the car for coffee on the go. So I don't feel deprived.

I haven't had any sinus infections for about 6 months. I think that is because of the no milk. Crossing my fingers. I think my sinus is actting up this week because of some milk products I am accidently eatting.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience with the no milk and the tmj and the sinus connection.

I just found out the alot of kosher products don't have milk. So I am going to get some kosher treats for the house.

Maybe you have a sinus infection and need to see a doctor.

By Feona on Monday, December 22, 2008 - 11:42 am:

I don't think I have a sinus infection. I was having chronic pain in my jaw (tmj) so bad I was crying and taking medicine that did nothing for me at all. I was taking singular and claritin and high does of basically advil. But it did nothing at all.

I stopped drinking milk and the pain got 90 percent better. But I have to watch even butter on my toast and food and cream in my coffer when I am outside.

I think I have been trying to go milk free for about 6 months. The face pain increase with any milk products. So werid!
