I'm making meatloaf tonight....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: I'm making meatloaf tonight....
By Dana on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 - 03:25 pm:

anyone have a favorite method/ingredients?

We usually use both ground pork and hamburger, but I just have hamburger tonight.

Just thought I'd see what everyone does differently. Feeling I need a little boost to the ho hum of my meals these days.

We use pork sausage and ground beef along with an onion a couple of eggs, salt, pepper and crushed saltines. We top it with cream of mushroom soup mixed with milk to form a gravy of sorts.
We are having meatloaf (or meatballs if I'm ambitious) tonight too!

We do spaghetti sauce with garlic and onions. Good stuff! We made the same thing tonight, with mashed red potatoes and corn.

Sent the same food to a family tonight who is going through a hard time right now. Should have seen their 12 yr old boy's face!! :) He was so very hungry!

I know you made the meatloaf last night but... I always add Spicy V8 to the mixture. It adds a nice kick but doesn't make it spicy.

My mother used to use spicy bbq sauce w/meatloaf. I've never made it.

Thanks for the tips. yes, I made it already. I actually experimented. I used the standard onion soup mix, fresh onions and very teeny tiny cut green pepper from the garden (I hate grn pepper, but thought it would be good here). But then added curry powder and cinnamon. And I topped with castup. I like BBQ sauce, but DH prefers castup. The only reason we have left overs is because my husband wanted meatloaf for lunch. Otherwise, it would be completely gone. Even DS ate his first helping. He asked for seconds! But stopped the second he saw an onion in it. Oh well, at least he ate some!
