Snow Day!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Snow Day!
By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 - 09:23 am:

Winter storm warning until midnight tonight
6-10 inches predicted
Already have about 6-7 on the ground

It was pretty much a no-brainer. I don't get out of work, entirely, though, since I still have to work at my clinic job, but I'll get a little more time there, today, since I don't have to leave to do my school job! Emily was thrilled and went right back to sleep, after I told her, shortly after 6pm.

We were supposed to go to a Christmas party tonight, for the church women, but I bet that gets cancelled. We'll have to see. Emily and I are supposed to have little Christmas presents for our secret pals, but we were so busy over the weekend, we didn't have time to go shopping and last night, it was already snowing hard. We might not need them anyway. I work until 5, so we'll see what happens, then.

I love snow days!! We had a little cold snap and some decent snow over the weekend, but it is supposed to be near 50 today....... I love a good winter storm as long as everyone is home and we can watch it from the window!

One of mine has a snow day today, and the other just a 2 hour delay. Dh is working from home. We're deciding on whether or not to send him. Roads on this side of town are bad--drifting and ice covered. On the side of town where his school is they're just ice covered. Traffic looks like it's moving pretty good right now (we can see a major road from our house). *Sigh* I don't know. Of course he doesn't want to go, but that's not the point. :(

Well, I guess both my kids get a snow day. Robin's bus never came. He goes to school in another district, but our district buses him. I guess since ours is closed they won't bus him, even though his district just had a 2 hour delay. I talked to his school's secretary and she said I could either bring him or he could just stay home. He's staying home. I'm not taking daycare kiddos out in this mess. I'll call transportation tomorrow and get this straighten out because there will be a next time. Crazy. Robin's happy, though, and I don't have to worry about him out there. :)

We haven't had a snow day yet. We had our first snow on Sunday, but it was just a dusting and we had flurries this morning. Today with the wind chill it is -7, tomorrow it's going to be rainy and 60 out. Crazy weather.

Dawn, that makes me grumpy! We got that same amount of snow and we all had school today. I was soooo hoping for a snow day since I have been up to the wee hours grading for the past 2 nights, but we had to suck it up and come in. They hadn't even plowed my parking lot at work, so then I had to wade through snow to get to my office. Ugh!

I don't really get a snow day, except that I don't have to go to my school job. Enough people found the clinic this morning, that we were pretty steady, with stuff to do. Emily was knitting, when I came home for lunch.

Pam, I'm sorry that you had to go to work.

Lucky you!! A friend back in KS sent me a video, saying it was snowing, but it was light enough that I couldn't tell on my phone. I *don't* miss that, I hate cold weather, but snow days are still nice. Hope everyone is staying warm!!

It's been raining all day today and is 45 degrees. Everyone keeps saying "well, at least it is warmer today" SERIOUSLY are they kidding? I've been freezing cold all day long!

I think the temp is going to drop tonight which will make for nice, slippery, ice covered roads. Brrr. Maybe the roads will be too slippery and they will call school off tomorrow!

Yeah. Right.

I am with Vicki. Snow days are awesome, as long as everyone is safe inside the house. A few years ago on a snow day my kids and I made cookies, a fort in the living room with pillows and blankets and even some macaroni necklaces.....man, I was feeling ambitious that day! :)
