Still don't know about job

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Still don't know about job
By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 - 12:36 am:

I don't know how much longer this can go on. People are supposed to be let go, where hubby works. We found out at the end of October. We still don't know. We need a new snowblower, and now the washing machine died and we can't make any plans. It's so frustrating. My neck is so tight and even I can feel the big huge knots back there. DH is crabby. He said work is like a funeral home. Nobody talks. Nobody laughs. It's just not fun. Everyone is so tense and afraid for their future. I'm at my wit's end, with this, too. There have been words tonight and Emily and I were both in tears. You can cut it with a knife, I tell you. I know he's a wreck, but I'm not much better.

Oh Dawn I am so sorry that you guys are all going through this, especially at this time of year.
I know it is hard, keep your chin up. You have a lot of people keeping your family in their prayers.
I hope that you get good news soon.

{{{HUGS}}} How stressful for all of you. I hate when companies say they are going to do layoffs, and then drag their feet. I hope you find out soon!

By Tayjar on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 - 11:56 am:

(((Hugs))) I hope you find out one way or the other soon. I'll be praying for a positive outcome.

By Mrsheidi on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 - 02:22 pm:

Dawn...I'm so sorry, sweetie. Losing a job isn't fun. We were there last May and it was heart wrenching for Scott. I had to stay strong for him even though I wanted to scream!

If it makes you feel any better, my cousin owns a Sears store and can have washers delivered anywhere in the U.S. Do you want me to see if I can get something discounted for you?

We'll say a prayer for you guys today...

By Rayelle on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 - 02:54 pm:

(((HUGS))) We had a stressful year regarding the job front. I hope you find peace soon.

By Reds9298 on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 - 02:59 pm:

I'm so sorry Dawn. So many people have lost jobs over the last several months. DH was in the same position in March with a bankrupt company. It's scary. I hope everything works out for you. It's so hard when you feel like you can't do anything until you know what's going to happen.

It helped to play my piano tonight! It gives me a bit of release, in a situation where I have no control.

By Bobbie~moderatr on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 - 09:17 am:

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I hope they give him some type of answer today. Things are really scary for a lot of people right now.. Please take care to keep things in perspective. (((DAWN)))

He told me, "So far, I'm not one of them." He didn't talk long, since he was off to work, and I didn't get to ask any questions. I don't know how the meeting went, or anything.

They did layoff the whole composing department and one lady from the downstairs office. That's all I know.

By Wandilu on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 - 05:55 pm:

Dawn, I'm so sorry your family is going through this. But, at least that was good news, for now :)

By Crystal915 on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 - 06:58 pm:

Well, that's good news, at least for now! More ((((HUGS))))

By Breann on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 - 09:41 pm:

((((hugs)))) This is such a scary time. I hope he is able to keep his job.

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 - 11:53 pm:

He is for sure, keeping his job. He just sounded unsure, with that first phone call. He called about an hour later and said it was a done deal. Tonight he is very happy.

By Emily7 on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 04:33 am:

I am so very happy for you guys. What a relief and early Christmas present!

By Bobbie~moderatr on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 08:49 am:

Dawn, Dh and all the people he works with will be in my thoughts. Many people have adjustment issues when lay offs occur, they are thankful they are saved but feel guilty because others are let go. I hope the people that were laid off are able to sustain their livelihood, that things pick back up, or they are able to move on to better things.

By Tayjar on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 10:09 am:

That's great news. I do feel badly for the others who lost their jobs, especially at this time of year.

By Breann on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 10:13 am:

Lots to be thankful for! Glad he is "safe".

By Vicki on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 10:14 am:

Good news!

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 03:04 pm:

He does feel bad for the people who were let go. Today, they are all wearing black to show support for those laid off. He actually went and bought something new.

I'm glad he is safe. He finally felt he could go order the snowblower today, and got the last one. Phew. Our old one is almost 21 years old. We bought it in early January of 1988, right after we got married. They were predicting a big snow storm and we lived in a duplex, at the time. The couple on the other side, were elderly, so we did all the shoveling. There was a 4-car wide driveway at that place. That would have been a lot of shoveling. The elderly man would always run out and give Gary a few bucks for gas, for doing their side of the driveway. I always shoveled the path to the mailbox, on their side first, because I didn't want Teddy falling. If ours didn't get as nicely cleaned off, it didn't matter as much.

By Bellajoe on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 03:08 pm:

I'm so happy for you all, Dawn. What a relief for you and your family.

It is sad that people lost their jobs. How awful.

I just found out that my sister in law lost her job a few weeks ago. Thank God my brother has a good job to support them as well.
