 Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Sad Day
My dog passed away this afternoon. He has been fine these past few days, and yesterday evening, he threw up in his cage. My hubby and I thought that maybe he got into something. I put him in our tub with towels to make him comfortable until I could wash him in the morning. When I went to get him yesterday, he had pooped in the tub. I gave him a bath, and he was fine all day yesterday, ate and drank just fine. He was a little sluggish, but I just thought that maybe he wasn't feeling well. Last night, I put him in the tub with blankets again, just to make sure he didn't get sick. When i woke up this morning, he had pooped again. I let him out and washed him again. He was a little slower, but seemed ok. I took Rylee to school, came home and he was just laying there. He sat up for me, and then layed back down. I knew by the way he was breathing, something wasn't right. He continued to get worse, and there as nothing I could do. I left the house around 11:45 to go get Rylee, and when I came back home, he was gone. I had to break the news to Rylee. She cried hard, but is doing ok right now. I'm a mess, but trying to stay strong for her.

We had him for 8years. His name was Gizmo, and he was a miniature Yorkie.

Dawn, yes. He was born in October of 2000 and we got him in December of the same year. He will be missed.

Rayanne, I am SO sorry and sad for you.
I am so sorry! I lost my dog (Wags) a little while back and I still miss him so much. My DH got me a new puppy (Petey) a few weeks ago but nothing can ever take the place of Wags. He was my baby!!

Thank you everyone. Your kind words and thoughts mean so much. I am taking this a lot harder than I thought I would. I mean, I knew it would be hard, but not this hard. He got really sick in April, and we never found out what was wrong. He lost a lot of weight, and never gained it back. The only thing they wanted to look for, which we wouldn't let them do, was cancer. They could only catch it through x-ray's though, and it was too much. I know I got 7 more months with him, but I wish I had longer.

Rayanne, how are you doing today?
I am starting to do a little better. It's hard because I swear I see him out of the corner of my eye at times, or hear him bark outside. He was an inside dog, but always barked when he wanted to come in from doing his business. Lastnight, while I was brushing my teeth before bed, I swear I heard his dog collar jingle, like it always did while he was getting comfortable in his bed.
What a cute dog!
