Am I insane or what??

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Am I insane or what??
By Vicki on Sunday, November 2, 2008 - 11:34 am:

We are having Thanksgiving this year again, so I started some deep cleaning today. I decided to start in the foyer and take down all my Halloween decorations and clean really good etc. Got all the things down, scrubbed and cleaned everything and was getting ready to go to the basement to get my normal everyday decorations to put back up since all the Halloween stuff is put away. Got to thinking, I am going to be doing this all again in a month to get out Christmas stuff..... so you guess it... LOL I went down and got all my containers marked "foyer Christmas" and now it is all spotless and decorated for Christmas.

I have decided to do this in each room and then I will be all decorated for Christmas for my Thanksgiving dinner. I have never done that before! I have all my Christmas decorations in containers and marked with what room they are for, so as I clean each room, I will pull out those containers and decorate.

I can't decide if I am insane, or just organized or a little of both. LOL

May both :) But I LOVE my Thanksgiving decor, so I would never skip over that one. I will be taking down the halloween stuff, leaving the fall stuff still up, and putting out the Tday stuff this week. My favorite time of year!!!! (right next to the first day of school, LOL)

Well, I have two rooms completely scrubbed and decorated. We have a rather large foyer, so I consider that a room. LOL

I still have the family room and kitchen to do.... I am not looking forward to those. I will work on that this week while dd is in school and dh is at work. I don't want to be in the middle of it and have dh and dd in the kitchen making stuff to eat etc.

I just have no idea how I make a bigger mess cleaning that it was when I started. LOL

I do the same thing. Nov 1 I start putting up Christmas. I love Christmas and think that we don't get the chance to see all of the great decorations long enough. So, I put them up a little bit earlier than most.

I've been a little like you today Vicki - we took down all the Halloween decorations. I realized that in 3 weeks I will be putting up Christmas decos, so just never put the regular stuff back out. I'm waiting! :) We do Christmas decorations the weekend before Thanksgiving, so it seems kind of silly to put my old stuff back up for only a few weeks. Our Christmas decos are stored with other 'attic' stuff in our 3rd garage right now, so I'm not digging through it yet, LOL! It will still wait a few weeks.

We started putting ours up before T'Giving several years ago, just because we were always traveling over T'Giving and the week after. It's kind of nice to get it out of the way, and you do get to see them longer that way. DH is a Christmas decoration FANATIC. He loves it!

We are doing what Deanna is - my Christmas tree and decorations will be put up in the next 2-3 weeks, because we will be @ Disney on Dec. 1 for 10 days.

Lol...no not insane, just efficient. :) We were trimming the spiral junipers yesterday and discussed putting the Christmas lights on them, so we could be done with that. Then I remembered that entering my attic might be traumatizing right now. hahahaha So, I need to get upstairs and clean out the attic, really well next weekend and at that time pull out the Christmas decor. :)

I bet your house feels clean and looks pretty, Vicki!!! :)
