Been away lately....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2008: Been away lately....
By Dana on Friday, October 17, 2008 - 10:47 am:

My dad came to visit for a couple days with his new family (wife and a child my daughters age). He lives in Thailand now, so it was a big deal visit. The first time we met his new family.

I spent most of my time cleaning the house, inside and out, every pantry shelf, every drawer and most the closets. It gave me the fire under my tail to FINALLY get my playroom boxes emptied or put away out of sight. Not sure if out of sight is a good thing.

Our visit was nice and his new wife is very sweet. Her daughter spoke no English but got along well with both my kids. She loved the video games and spent much of her watching Thailand Youtube.

I spent several more days bing sick, and got sick one week, well for one week and then sick again. I hate when you get the double whammy illnesses.

Feeling better now, but woke up without a voice today.

the last few weeks have been the most enjoyable since closing the playroom. So glad that stress is over.

I'm glad you had a good visit and that you are under less stress. I hope you are feeling better.

Same here.. So what does the next chapter in your life look like?

Well, actually pretty good. I only have a few minutes to type. MIL is visiting, they are at the beach and I need to do some shopping for food for dinner tonight.

In short, I cleaned the house because of Dad's visit. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER! A huge mental burden lightened. The house looks so much nicer now and we can once again have guest walk thru the door.

I am a room rep for my daughter's class and start volunteering in class next Thurs. had to wait for all the beginning of the year testing dates to end. She likes me doing this, so a big plus on our relationship. She is doing GREAT in school this year.

Critter, well, he's Critter. He still wont eat real food and won't even take a bite to say he doesn't like it. He IS going potty now, for the most part. He won't tell anyone but me he has to go, so tough to leave him if there's a chance he may need to pee or especially poop. But at least he's in big boys now.

DH is on the verge of a fantastic business opportunity. He is under a lot of stress as he learns he way thru it. He is a one man company and he is dealing with a world wide corporate company.....the rules are so different. But if it works out, we could be living a totally different life!

I just started doing my work from home business. It's been exactly 4 wks now. And I've only worked for 2 of those wks due to Dad's visit and being sick. But even with that, I am reaching my goals. This is one of the easiest WAH jobs I've done....shoot, any job that gets paid for that matter. If I play my cards right, I will be making $700 in my first 6 wks....and that's part time. So I am very please with that. As my initial goal, I was just wanting to replace my $150/wk babysitting money I lost when the family moved. So it looks like I will acheive this and then some if I keep going at this rate. I was terrified when I first started, and really skeptical, but feeling so much better now, even enjoying it.

And as I said, just having a clean house has made my life so much better. Now that the decission to close the playroom has ended, the "loose ends" are tied (with the exception of tax work for this last year) I am feeling so much better. I am certain I made the right choice. A very good friend of mine opened a business about the same time as I did. All was doing well, and they were getting ready to make a move that would be very beneficial. And then the stocks dropped like a rock. Her silent partner had a lot invested in stocks, so now she is very worried. I am so greatful to not be holding onto my old business during these bad times right now.

God has gotten us all through some very stressful months over this summer. But here we all are with something good on our doorstep!

Oh, and something that I haven't shared really here at all. And for those who have gone thru this or are going thru this, it will really make you happy for me.

MY HUSBAND IS GOING TO CHURCH WITH THE FAMILY EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY!!!!! ALL OF US TOGETHER, EVEN WHEN WE DON'T WANT TO WAKE UP!!!! I have prayed for this to happen for so long...hmmm, 10 yrs to be exact! And one day, my husband said "I think we should say the blessing" at dinner. My mouth dropped. I try, but when your entire family, esp the head of the house, is not praying, it falls away quickly. So I asked him what changed, and he told me his reason, but I won't go into that here. So my next question was "does that mean you will go to church with us next Sunday?" He answered YES! And guess what!? He has gone every Sunday since then, if we weren't out of town. And there were a couple times someone in the family was sick. But luckily the church does online streaming of the service, so we "went to church" sitting in bed together. I am so thrilled and excited, I just don't know what to do about it. I am as happy about this as I was when he quit smoking over 8 yrs ago. I love when prayers that seem to take forever, finally come out the way you were wanting.

Okay, I am way past time on shopping now. Guess I just had to yell out all the good that has been going on around our house. I'm done now.

Thanks for asking, Bobbie! (aren't you glad you weren't on the phone with me asking that question? I wouldn't have shut up!:))
