Lowes carpeting

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2008: Lowes carpeting
By Reeciecup on Thursday, October 9, 2008 - 04:39 pm:

Hi all, We are replacing carpeting on the main floor of our house which includes a living room, dining room, guest bedroom, and central hall area. We have priced out a neutral berber at Lowes and they have a $250 whole house installation deal. Anyone have any experience with Lowes and carpeting?

I replaced two rooms on the first floor of my home last year with carpet from Lowe's. They moved furniture, hauled off my old carpet and pad, replaced new pad and carpet, and then moved my furniture back, in a very organized and timely manner. I thought they did a good job. One year later, I have no complaints about my carpet. (knock on wood) I have to replace the carpet upstairs in the next couple of months and I will use Lowe's, again.

No experience with their flooring, just kitchens - and if I were to do it again, I'd search for a reputable installer NOT contracted by Lowes. But that was a cabinet installer, and he didn't level mine, I just wasn't aware of it until the installer for the countertop showed up. Do they offer any references who will vouch for their work?

I had the cabinets for my downstairs (summer)kitchen installed by Lowes. They did an excellent job.
We just carpeted our basement and used Home Depot for the carpet and the installation. They too, were great. The carpet itself is nice and the installers did a very neat and careful job.
I will say that as far as the cabinets are concerned, the quality of my upstairs kitchen (Brookhaven cabinets) installation was superior to Lowes, but the price was also about two thirds more expensive.

I have 2 things to say about Lowe's or at least the one closest to me. One, we bought some flooring. It was a Click Lock and supposed to be hardwood. We installed it and accidentally spilled a little water on it. The top of it crinkled. We were mortified. But we pulled it up, they gave a 100% refund and offered us a discount on a replacement flooring.
Two, I talked to the store manager about carpeting yesterday. He said they did contract out the labor but Lowe's gives it a full satisfaction guarantee or
our money back. I will probably go by there Monday and order our carpet.
