I'm Back From The Doctor

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2008: I'm Back From The Doctor
By Rayanne on Monday, August 18, 2008 - 12:53 pm:

Everything is fine! She said that my cervix is perfect, and it's closed. She said that the spotting is fine, and my cervix is just getting upset with everything going on. I heard the baby and his heartbeat is still 159/160...thank goodness!!! The cramps I have been experiencing are braxton hicks. She said that I need to keep an eye on them and if I have 6 or more in an hour, than I need to drink more water, and relax. If I am drinking more water and relaxing, and I'm still having 6 in an hour, then I need to call her. I am so relieved that everything is ok. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers!

By Tayjar on Monday, August 18, 2008 - 12:58 pm:

Great news. I think we can all take a deep breath now. Treat yourself to a day of relaxation and lots of water.

Rayanne, great news! Your poor heart must have been so upset. Take a nap with Rylee, drink your water and try to relax.

You are going to have a healthy, happy baby! :)

Glad to hear everything is AOK...It is hard not to be scared.
Have you ever thought about getting a doppler? That was my lifesaver when I was pregnant with Faith. I never had one with my first two, but with her, it kept me sane. I know it doesn't prevent anything from happening, but it sure gives you a peace of mind.

By Trina~moderator on Monday, August 18, 2008 - 05:55 pm:

Great news! (((HUGS)))

By Rayanne on Monday, August 18, 2008 - 06:09 pm:

Jackie,
I would love to have a doppler, but my DH doesn't want to spend the money on one since this will be our last baby. I have tried to talk him into one, but no luck yet.

By Conni on Monday, August 18, 2008 - 06:15 pm:

Glad to hear things are ok with you and baby. :) Also happy to hear your dh is taking such good care of you!!

By Jackie on Monday, August 18, 2008 - 07:10 pm:

Rayanne
I know they can be costly. The first month I rented one from some company on the internet.. I was so impressed, these were hospital grade dopplers, not the cheapies you buy at the local baby store. After my husband saw how well it worked, and how much I needed for my my emotional peace of mind, he went on ebay. We bought one from ebay and I used it through out my pregnancy. I would sometimes listen to her heartbeat as much as 4 or 5 times a day. We sold it on ebay for the exact amt we paid for it.I honestly dont' know how I would of made it through that pregnancy if I didn't have it to reassure myself between drs visits.

By Tink on Monday, August 18, 2008 - 09:59 pm:

So glad to hear that you and your sweet boy are just fine. Keep calm, hydrated and off your feet. {{{Rayanne}}}

By Wandilu on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - 12:22 am:

So thankful everything is ok ! For some reason, you were on my mind either last night or early this morning. So I prayed for you ,and the baby.Isn't that something how God works?! You have a lot of people praying for you, which is always a good thing!!

By Happynerdmom on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - 09:14 am:

Wonderful news, Rayanne!! Now obey the doctor and relax and drink your water! :) You'll continue to be in my prayers.

By Paulas on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - 09:37 am:

What great news! I have been so worried for you. I am so pleased things worked out well. Rest lots! Explain to DH that your peace of mind is worth more than any amount of dollars. Like Jackie said, I'm sure you can get all, if not most, of your monetary investment back by selling it. The well being investment is priceless!

By Mrsheidi on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - 11:31 am:

Woot! Woot! Yeah!!! So relieved!!

By Dana on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - 11:48 am:

Rayanne, try posting a request on freecycle. Explain why you are wanting it and perhaps another mother who had the same fears will gladly donate her doppler to you. And you in turn can pass the gift to another worried mother with history of miscarriages.

So happy to see your update post.

By Rayanne on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - 02:18 pm:

Dana,
I am not familiar with freecycle. I tried looking around on it, and am very confused. I love your idea, and will continue to try.

By Dana on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 - 12:12 pm:

First you have to have a freecycle in your area. If you go to freecycle.org (are you still in Tampa/Lutz.....you used to be, right?) Then locate your city or any other cities close enough to drive to. Join the group.

Then you will post "WANTED: fetal doppler-(name of your city)" And in text explain your need. They are very strict about posting in a particular way for the subject line, so just tpe it the way I did. You can say whatever you want in the text message.

Chances are you will have your post moderated for approval (following group rules and proper posting). Once approved, it will be posted and emailed to all in that group(s).

If someone is able to give you that item, they reply to your post and you recv an email directly to you. So instead of their reply going "to all", it is set only to orginal poster. Works the same way if you see someone post a WANT or OFFER. You reply to the post that everyone can view, but only the OP sees your reply.

And don't post your personal contact info in your text message. You do all that once someone replies to you.

Hope that helps.

By Angellew on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 - 12:16 pm:

Also, check out EBAY... a friend had really good luck finding the doppler she wanted on there for not a lot of money at all. And then re-sold on Ebay when she was done!

By Rayanne on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 - 02:13 pm:

This girl on another mommy dite is selling hers for 50. It includes shipping, so I told her that I wanted it!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Tarable on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 - 03:00 pm:

That is awesome.. I know it will help your stress level a lot..

By Brandy on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 - 03:13 pm:

i'm so glad you will get some peace of mind = ) that's awesome...

By Jackie on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 - 03:29 pm:

Thats great..What kind is it?

By Dana on Thursday, August 21, 2008 - 02:42 am:

Before you buy it, check out that brand. I know some moms who went into more stress because the doppler they got didn't always find the heart beat. So research before your purchase.
