If you have a problem with another member - DO NOT PUT A POST ON THE BOARD THAT RAISES YOUR ISSUES.

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2008: If you have a problem with another member - DO NOT PUT A POST ON THE BOARD THAT RAISES YOUR ISSUES.
By Ginny~moderator on Friday, August 8, 2008 - 05:40 pm:

I have removed a thread where a person posting anonymously asked that a moderator e-mail her. The thread continued with a response from another member who "outed" the anonymous poster in her response. If any member wants to contact a moderator, use the Contact menu on the left, under Utilities. The moderators are listed by name and the email goes to a special server. Some moderators do not have their special accounts set up to be automatically notified if an email comes in and may not check that inbox for a few days, but I am one who has automatic notification set up, and anyone can email me through the llnk in the contact menu.

First: Do NOT post on the board asking that a moderator contact you. Especially do NOT make such a post anonymously. And any time that you post anonymously, it isn't very anonymous to put your email address in your post.

Second: Do NOT post on the board asking that your account be disabled. Again, simply email a moderator. However, the moderators will not usually remove a profile or disable posting privileges, except in special circumstances. If you do not post for a year, your profile will be removed in January of the next year, when we clean out the profiles of non-active members to conserve server space.

Third: The moderators will almost NEVER remove posts. The only time the moderators remove posts (or delete profiles) is if (a) the post is one that violates the Momsview rules (see the Posting Guidelines} or (b) the member is going through a personal or legal situation where her safety might be in jeopardy. Each such request is discussed between the moderators.

I repeat: If you have a problem with another member, do not post on the board in a way that either describes or hints at such a problem.

As a moderator, I would not ordinarily raise such issues on the board because the moderators prefer to keep such member disagreements off the board. However, it seems to me that people need to be reminded about the rules and the Posting Guidelines. I have not identified the people who posted in the thread I removed, and do not intend to identify them. If any of those members want to discuss this with me, use the link in the Contact menu.
