Are you getting much rain? Here in Houston we are getting plenty wet, but the winds are pretty mild.

Christy I assume all is well where you are too. I know it hit a bit more east than anticipated.

Today it didn't rain at all. LOL We have been getting a lot of rain, practically daily, for a couple of weeks. Yesterday, I planned to NOT do some errands today that I needed to do because I thought the weather would be bad today. Surprise - no rain! I even went to the grocery and CVS....kept expecting the rain to come, but apparently we aren't getting it.

How much rain are you guys getting? I heard on the news it could be between 5 and 10".

By Kaye on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 - 07:43 pm:

We got what I would guess about 6-7 inches. The good news is they cancelled band for my dd and work for my hubby. So we have been in pj's and watched movies all day.

6-7 inches? Yikes. My basement would be wet. Karen, can you just send your dog out to go potty? I'd end up having to go out in the rain, with mine! LOL!

By Karen~admin on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 - 10:40 am:

Dawn, yes, our back yard is fenced, so we just open the door and out she goes.

6-7" of rain would quickly produce flooded roads and yards and even some houses here. Thankfully, we didn't get NEAR that much rain.

Always on guard right now though - August and September are the months where we are most likely to get tropical storms/hurricanes.........

Kaye, how's the weather today??

By Kaye on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 - 10:46 am:

So far it is pretty here. However we are expected to have a bit more rain today.

Yesterday was interesting. We have several areas with 6 inches of rain, all got at least 2 inches. We had no major flooding, there was one underpass that stalled cars, but that is all the news could find. Honestly we have had normal rain storms much worse than this.

Dawn, Houston is like no other place i have lived. When it rains, it rains, a lot and hard. I bet there is never a time that we don't get 2 inches if it is raining. We actually had to install a sump pump off our porch because when it rains so hard the gutters can't keep up and it backs up on the porch.

And yes Karen always on guard. I did clean out my yard for the storm and now am trying to decide if I will put the stuff back or what..LOL.
