Homemade playdoh issue
By Rayelle on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 - 03:07 pm: | I was trying to make the basic salt dough mix and I have food color gels. I've never used those for playdo before and they aren't coloring/mixing in. I just get a marbled effect. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
By Boxzgrl on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 - 04:03 pm: | It happened the same way with me. That, and it was either to sticky (the dough) or too salty. I gave up. LOL It's harder than it looks!
By Rayelle on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 - 04:07 pm: | It is! I am sooooo disappointed I was looking forward to having all these new bright colors I couldn't pull off the liquid food color. Ah well. When I feel adventurous I'll try again lol.
By Marcia on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 - 10:03 pm: | You have to add the colour to the liquid ingredients first, to avoid the marble effect. One of the best recipes I've used is for Kool-aid playdoh. If you google it, I'm sure a recipe will come up. From what I remember, the grape always needed a bit more flour, but the other colours worked with the amount stated in the recipe.
