We've got an offer!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2008: We've got an offer!
By Reds9298 on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - 07:50 pm:

An accepted one that is! After a counter or two, we've come to an accepted offer on our house. We're happy with it, in this market, so it's good. Inspections are this weekend, so we've got to get through that, but we're optimistic. We don't foresee anything major, but keeping our fingers crossed of course.

We're getting that the buyer is very excited and was surprised at our acceptance of the offer. Yay!!!

Good for you!! We just got our tax bill today and about threw up at what it is this year, we are putting our house on the market as soon as possible and downsizing because it is getting too expensive to continue to live in this house we are currently in, we are paying 8000.00 this year in property taxes....

By Colette on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - 08:38 pm:

omg..dh and I pay a little more than that but for two houses...

Congrats, Deanna! That's great news!

Mom2three, YIKES, that's expensive! Our is about $2600 for a 1600 sq ft house.

By Debbie on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - 11:32 am:

Congratulations!!!! I will keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well on the inspection. Have you started looking for a new house??

Mom2three, right before we moved from Chicago a school referrendum passed, our taxes went up to $8,000.00 for the following year. We were never so happy to move from a house!!

I'm sooooo happy for you guys!! When is the closing date?? Do you miss your hubby a lot??
Make sure you hire a cleaning crew for the day before your closing date...totally worth it after all that moving!

Thanks everyone! Our taxes here just DROPPED 60% - can you believe that? That's how bad the market is here. I'm not even telling you what our taxes is or you would all start laughing in a crazy, psychotic way!LOL It's been for sale about 6 weeks, and we priced it to sell, not wanting to waste any time.

DH is driving/working 12 hour days, so he's exhausted and mostly a zombie through the week when he's home. So yes, I do miss him. :) We live for the weekends, which seem so short.

I think we're going to rent for a while in our new town - just to ge a feel for the place, the schools, etc. We're still debating on private and public when Nat starts Kindergarten in 2009.

We're planning to clean the house ourselves, although I don't think it will be too much work at all. This house is really spotless. There shouldn't be too much more than my self-cleaning oven (which will do the work for me:)), carepts were just cleaned, and cleaning up the garage a bit once it's completely emptied. We have scoured this house from top to bottom in the last 2 months.

I'm feeling a little sad already. Excited about the move, but sad about leaving the house. We've been here 9 out of 10 years and we have so many memories here, not to mention that it's so private and really 'ours'. It's our beautiful acre. It will be hard to leave, especially not buying right off. I'm hoping we'll find a great rental house like we did when we first married. After the loss we've taken on this place, buying doesn't sound so appealing at the moment! We have a lot of equity in it, we *should* have gotten SO much more, but the market here just can't do it. We're lucky honestly. Homes similar to ours are selling for even less typically.

Thank you! Excited, nervous, overwhelmed, and a little sad. Hoping for a smooth inspection this weekend and no major problems.

Great news, Deanna!!!!

We just got *our* tax bill too - they have always been ridiculously cheap in our area. Last year, they obviously used new guidelines/methods to calculate our property taxes and ours was about 10X what it used to be. This year is twice what LAST year was. However, it's STILL a lot cheaper than many of you - though I have no idea what your properties are worth. In south Louisiana, they aren't worth as much.
