Birthday party - order of things?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2008: Birthday party - order of things?

What generally is the order of how you run your birthday parties? Do you do games first, then cake, then presents, or differently? Do you serve cake after singing, while the child opens gifts? Or wait until after opening to serve cake?

I'm interested to hear what 'order' you all have at your children's birthday parties. Thanks a lot!

I agree with Yvonne! Well to the point that presents are last right before good bye. The cake and food normally come after the games but not always just depends on the kind of party and the time. Good luck!

same order, but sometimes i combined food and cake.
PLEASE open the presents at the party. i can't tell you how many parties my kids went to when they were younger and they didn't do it cause the host didn't want to interupt the kids' fun. It just seemed so greedy to me. The little kids love watching you open their present.

I agree, I hate when we go to birthday parties and the birthday child doesnt open the presents in front of the party guests. My kids love to see the look on the birthday childs face when their gift is opened.
We do it the same way, play, food, open presents, play some more, go home LOL

I wouldn't think of not opening gifts during the party. I agree with you!

Thanks ladies!
