Stuffed autograph dog question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2008: Stuffed autograph dog question
By Reds9298 on Thursday, June 19, 2008 - 11:05 pm:

Natalie is having a dog-themed birthday party and I bought one of these stuffed autograph dogs on sale. It came with a pen, but I tried it tonight and it doesn't write very well and is light.

Can we use just a permanent marker on this? Have any of you had one of these and if so, is permanent marker ok, or is there something better. Thanks!

If it is made out of Muslin you may experience some bleeding, no matter what marker type you use.

I made Muslin bears for my sisters kids for their 1st birthday parties and I just bought a pack of fine tip sharpies, in different colors, for everyone that came to their parties to sign.

The key to signing is, Stopping the movement of the marker against the fabric, while writing, will likely cause the fabric to draw in more of the ink and cause the bleeding of the color onto the fabric.. This can make what someone writes hard to read. You know how when you write with a pen or a pencil, you might pause the pen on the paper to think of your next thought/word? If you do this with the marker against fabric the fabric will draw more ink from the marker. In extreme cases, on my niece and nephews, people that basically wrote slowly, what they wrote is a bit harder to read then the people that wrote quickly.

I was going to say fine tipped Sharpie, too.

I tried that on the bottom and it seems to work fine. Thanks! I was nervous to try it.

It will be fine.. Most permeate markers can be used to write on fabric..
