Who all is going on vacation this summer? I know Bea just came back from China, and just saw that Karen is going to Washington DC?
Where are you going and when are you going?

I just love summer :)
My kids get done with school tomorrow. It seems they go later then most areas. I can hardly believe how fast this school year has gone.

We are going on vacation Aug 21 for our 9 night cruise. I am so anxious about it, yet on the other hand I don't want it to get here too quick as I feel like I am wishing away my whole summer.

We are going to Lake LBJ(which is close to Austin, Tx) for a week. I am so excited. My whole family has rented a beautiful house on the lake. It even has a pool! My parents, brother and SIL, along with their new baby, are all coming. We are going the 3rd week of July.

Gosh, Jackie, I can't believe you're kids are just getting out of school. My boys have been out for almost 3 weeks. They went to baseball camp last week, and they are at a campfire day camp this week. So, we have had to get up in the mornings. They are having a great time since they went with a lot of friends. But, they are looking forward to sleeping in next week!!

We're taking our boys with us to Nicaragua for the first time for a week in August. Can't wait! The guys aren't too excited about having to get vaccinated for typhoid and hepatitis A before they go though.

Debbie-when do your boys start school? Here they always go back the day after Labor day, and go to the 2nd week of June. Now the last two days are only half days.

PamT-I can only imagine how NOT excited your kids are about having to get vaccinated. I know my kids would hate it.

By Debbie on Thursday, June 12, 2008 - 04:10 pm:

Jackie, they go back on August 20th.

We're leaving Saturday for Myrtle Beach for a week! Woohoo! Can't wait!

We are going camping in Michigan for a week in July and are taking a quick trip to Nashville in July as well. We are doing some small weekend trips with our camper, too. We are going to a softball tournament this weekend and plan on camping all weekend.

My kids were out of school on May 30 and don't go back until August 26.

Sarah was done with school on May 16th and Emily's last day was today. They both start school after Labor Day. With college to pay for, and the fuel prices what they are, DH said no vacation this year. We'll just go see stuff around here, like tour Lambeau Field, in Green Bay and stuff like that.

we are going to holiday world well me my boys and my mom = ) we will be there for a day hopefully it's pretty that day = )

By Marcia on Friday, June 13, 2008 - 02:02 pm:

My kids get out on the 24th. We don't have any holidays planned, but will spend a couple of night at a friend's cottage. I might take off without anyone, to visit a friend in another province. :)
We take our big holidays in the winter, to get away from the crappy weather.

Just booked a cruise for August! (7-day Western Carribbean) This will be the 4th for dh and I, but the first one with the kids. :) It will also be our first one on Carnival. The fun part about booking so late is that I don't have long to wait! :)

Our kids got out of school on Wednesday. We will be heading up to Tahoe next weekend and will be there for almost six weeks.

By Karen~admin on Saturday, June 14, 2008 - 04:12 pm:

We leave @ 6:00 AM tomorrow for a week in Washington, D.C. - we are visiting DH's friends from college and seeing as many museums and monuments as we have time to. The friends have also arranged barbeques & dinners at night.

In September, I am going on a *girls only* cruise with my sisters and a bunch of other girls to celebrate allo of our 50th birthdays.

By Kate on Saturday, June 14, 2008 - 04:39 pm:

Melanie, what do you do in Tahoe for six weeks? Does your husband stay all that time, too? If so, how does he get such a long vacation? My sister was just in Tahoe in Nevada. She said it was gorgeous. Do you rent a cottage??

By Melanie on Saturday, June 14, 2008 - 08:56 pm:

Kate, we have a cabin there. It is only 4 hours away, so dh comes up Thursday nights and telecommutes from there on Fridays. We spend the weekend playing, usually out on the lake. Dh leaves early Monday morning to go back to work. He usually takes a few days off around July 4th. During the week when he isn't there, the kids do the golf or tennis clinics, we hang out by the pool, and just basically relax. We are coming off a busy baseball schedule in June and get back for a very hectic football schedule August 1. The time in between is our down time where we just kick back and do not much of anything.

I got to go to Washington, DC, when I was 18, with my family. That was a fun vacation! We drove out there, from Wisconsin. I loved seeing the Smithsonian and going up in the Washington Memorial. I thought the little token tour through the White House was a big bust, but everything else was great.

Melanie, have fun in Tahoe! I'm sure my kids would love that kind of deal!
