Mary Kay Cosmetics

Does anyone use this brand, and if so, why? It doesn't seem to be as popular around here as it was about 20-25 years ago. A lot of ladies in my church were into it, because I guess the founder of the comapny was a devout Christian. Is the stuff any better than anything else you can buy? It's prices are about the same as anyone else. I have been to a few MK parties at friend's houses years ago. I didn't see anything special.

If you do use it, I'd be interested to know why, and what it is you like about it.

A woman I work with sells Jafra and swears by it (of course). I went on line to read about these two companies, and they both seem to be pyramid schemes with lots of "hands in the pie", driving the price up.

I'd appreciate input on both. Thanks.

I have used both, My mom used to sell Jafra b/c she wanted the discount for herself- it was like any businees like that, Mary Kay or Pampered Chef. I think Jafra smells weird. Now I use Sheer Cover and like that better than anything. Mary Kay is fine but I don't think any of them are especially fabulous.

I like Mary Kay eye shadow, liner, mascara and lipstick. Basically, I love all their products except foundation. I do think it is better than store bought products.

I've used it off and on, over the years. It seems like nice enough stuff, but it's so expensive. Mostly I just don't do anything with my face, anyway.

I've never used it. My sister, however, loves the stuff, and used to sell it just so she could get her own at discount. She mostly uses the skincare products, and the last time she was here (in Feb.) I was surprised - she turns 50 this year, and she told me she doesn't wear anything on her face - her skin looked flawless! It looked amazing, and I never would have guessed that she wasn't wearing any makeup. When I told her how great I thought her skin looked, she said it was due to the MK products she's been using.

My mom has been using Mary Kay products since she was in her late teens, and she has the most beautiful skin. Absolutely no wrinkles. She has been complimented on her skin for as long as I can remember. When asked how she keeps it so beautiful, she says she stays out of the sun and uses Mary Kay.

Thanks, all. I was mostly inquiring about the skin care products. As far as make up, I am pretty happy with Clinique. Right now, I use a moisturizer called Face Base by Bobbi Brown and I LOVE it! I am very sensitive to scent in anything on my face, but this smells lightly like grapefruit, and doesn't bother me. And it makes my (almost) 60 year old face very soft. I realize that nothing is going to remove wrinkles. However, even during the cold winter months, I don't get dry patches anymore on my face like I used to before I used Face Base. It isn't inexpensive, but neither is any of the other stuff we mentioned.

As far as make up, all I use is eye shadow, eye liner, mascara and lipstick. All but the mascara, I buy from Clinique. The best mascara for me is Maybelline Turbo Lash or some such name. When you get older, your lashes become sparse and this pumps them up. I wear glasses, too, so I need something to keep my eyes from "disappearing". LOL! All of my sons have the most GORGEOUS, thick eyelashes. Urrrgh! What a waste on men! LOL!
