History buffs--I got a question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2008: History buffs--I got a question

OK--this is out there, but maybe somebody knows what I'm talking about. There was an admiral from the American Revolution or maybe the Civil War that had a real famous line. It seems like his name was 2 first names like John Charles or something like that. Anybody have any idea what I'm talking about? I was trying tell dh something and my brain went blank and it's driving me nuts.

I don't know. I found a website that had famous Navy quotes from 1776 on including that one. I did not see what I was thinking I remembered. I have issues of misremembering things. But thanks though. I guess I just goofed again.

He also said, ‘If this be treason, make the most of it!’

"Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes"

Give me a hint, I bet I can help you figure it out.. What did it apply to? There are ALOT of famous quotes, but if you can narrow it down a bit for me I can probably figure it out.. I have a DF that is a history buff..
