Help with Abbreviations

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2008: Help with Abbreviations
By Hammockhugger01 on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 - 10:55 am:

Hi. I am new to this website although not new to computers. However, I have never "chatted" and don't text on my phone. I am embarassed to say I have no idea what many are saying in their posts because it is in abbreviations. I understand the medical abbreviations - I am a nurse. I am lost on the daily conversation abbreviations. I did not fill out that part of my profile because I had no idea what was being said or asked. Sorry I am a little behind the times. Can Anyone help me? At least bring me up to speed to common abbreviations used in this website. I know only one - lol. I guess that's a step in the right direction.

Check in Posting Fun, Emma. There's a whole list, some of which I think are rather silly. But the ones that were puzzling you - SAHM, WOHM, are Stay At Home Mom and Working Outside Home Mom. There is also WAHM - Working at Home Mom - which I think is something of a misnomer, because all moms are working, whether it is at home or outside the home. The difference is whether or not we get a paycheck, not whether or where we work.
