We are considering going there for our vacation. Any suggestions of places to stay that are not real expensive? What sites should we see? Is Charleston close to it? TIA

Don't have any time tonight to elaborate, but I'll post tomorrow! You can't go wrong going there though! In fact, we love it so much, we're moving there!

I wanna go!!!! It has been so long sense I have seen the beach/water. We have rivers and streams, so not the same thing as a huge body of water... What I would really like to see, clear blue water. Our waters around here are brownish/green, so not pretty..

Anyway, no suggestions, just have a great time whatever you decide to do..

Okay, I didn't forget about you! I got called into work and had to be there immediately, so I didn't get a chance to respond!

First, I wanted to know a few things. Are you looking for a nice hotel that's oceanfront? Or more of a small mom and pop kind of place? We always stay at an oceanfront resort with great pools and lazy rivers!

Also, what kind of things do you enjoy? Shopping? Outside fun?

One thing you have to do is go to Broadway at the Beach. It isn't oceanfront, it's back about a mile, but it's this rectangle boardwalk around a beautiful lake. Around it are lots of different shops, restaurants, and things like Build-a-bear and Ripley's Aquarium. There are also beautiful fountains and sculptures that are fun to look at. It's so much fun to walk around it even if you aren't going to shop. My kids love taking some bread to feed the huge fish and the ducks.

There's also Brookgreen gardens which is just beautiful. Go towards the beginning of your vacation because when you buy a ticket, it's good for seven days. It has gorgeous trees, and flowers, and sculptures, and even a river that you can take a boatride on.

Huntington State Park is a great oceanfront state park with an old castle you can tour.

You just HAVE to take one of the boat rides out into the ocean. Our favorite was with Sea Thunder, just across the border in Calabash NC. It's a huge speedboat that has shade and sun. You pick where you want to sit. It takes you out into the ocean and back towards Myrtle Beach and everything. The shoreline is still in sight, so it's so much fun seeing things from that point of view. They go to a shrimp boat and let you watch the dolpins play. It's amazing. They are right beside of you and they sat there about 20 minutes letting us watch them. The boat is big enough so that you can get up and walk around. Also, you don't get hot on it because of the breeze. It's definitely our favorite thing to do! There's another one called Sea Screamer. Don't go on that one. You are jam packed on there like sardines, and there is no shade. The Sea Thunder is a much more relaxing ride.

We love Ripley's Aquarium, but we don't go to it at the beach because we have one near our home in Pigeon Forge, TN. But it's so worth the visit. We just love it.

These are just a few of my favorite things! Let me know what type of hotel you are looking for and I'll give you some ideas there. You should also get a Stay and Play guide from Myrtle Beach's chamber of commerce. They are free and have a lot of information! I'll have to find the website and post it, but if you don't want to wait, just google myrtle beach stay and play and it'll bring it up.

Adena, did you get that job you interviewed for down there?

By Luvn29 on Thursday, April 3, 2008 - 03:49 pm:

Well, the first interview went great. But then I was told that they weren't going to be able to pay what they said they would be at first. They did have a range and you would start out depending on schooling and experience. But they couldn't get the "powers that be" to sign off on an amount any higher than base level which was very low. So I didn't bother with a second interview.

Adena - Sorry it didn't work out. {HUGS} I know the right thing will come along for you!
