Christmas Dinner Dilema

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2004: Christmas Dinner Dilema
By Paulas on Friday, December 24, 2004 - 02:07 pm:

Usually it's just hubby,me and the kids for Christmas dinner. We don't have any family around here. So,, Christmas dinner is like any other meal...simple and plain. We have turkey, potatoes, veggies and a dessert...nothing fancy! This year we are having company come by and now I am panicking. We don't usually have a salad and all I could think of that might go is a broccoli salad but the one that I make has bacon in it and we can't serve any pork products.

Please help!

So make the broccoli salad without bacon. Or buy a couple of bags of salad mix from the supermarket and a fancy salad dressing.

Do you have any pecans or walnuts? You can roast them in the oven in honey and put them in a salad with an oil and vinegar dressing. My sister does that and it's delish! I'm *hoping* she will do the salad here tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry about it too much - you have a basic meal planned already.
