:(I'm So Worried!:(

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2004: :(I'm So Worried!:(
By Tunnia on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 09:18 pm:

My grandparents left their home in Kansas yesterday and were supposed to arrive here in Georgia between 1 and 3pm today and it is now 9:15pm and no word.:( They haven't called and my family is so very worried about them. My parents have tried to get ahold of someone with the Georgia Hwy patrol, but with no luck and my aunt is trying to track them from her end in Kansas. I know this belongs on the prayer board, but I though it would be seen quicker here. Please pray that they arrive or are found safe and sound and soon. TIA

By Ilovetom on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 09:30 pm:

I just got off the phone with my Dad and so far Kansas, Missouri, and Georgia have been cleared. No one has been able to talk to a real person in Tennessee everyone just gets stuck in an automated loop so we don't know if anything has happened there. However, my aunt talked to someone at Kentucky Hwy patrol and was told that there was a very bad accident there that was on my grandparents route that has traffic backed up for hours. We are hoping and praying that they are just stuck in traffic and haven't been able to get off the interstate to call. I'll post another update when I hear anything. Thank you for your continued prayers.

I got to thinking... there are websites that give up to the minute weather and treaffic conditions. I entered "road conditions accidents kentucky" into Google and got this website.

Hope this helps!

{{{{hugs}}}} How very scary. I'm guessing they don't have cell-phones. Maybe that would be a great gift to give for Christmas or upcoming birthdays.

I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know as soon as you hear something.

Thank you everyone for your prayers!:):):) I can't tell you how much I appreciate them! My parents just called and my grandparents just arrived safely. I can't tell you how happy I am!!! I am close to tears because I am so relieved! Turns out they have been lost in Atlanta and driving around trying to find my parents house. Why on earth didn't they stop at a phone and call??? I intend to ask them that when I see them in the morning. No they don't have a cell phone. My Mom and Aunt were going to give them a prepaid cell phone for Christmas and then decided not to because of the fact that the minutes would have to be renewed every 90 days and Mom and my aunt didn't think that Grandma and Grandpa would do it. I am betting that Mom goes out and gets them one tomorrow. Thank you all so much for taking the time to pray for my grandparents!

I'm so glad that they arrived. What a huge relief. Yes, get that prepaid cell-phone for them. Even if they just keep it in their car to use it for events such as this one!
{{{{hugs}}}}
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

By My2cuties on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 11:20 pm:

Whew..glad they are okay. It can be frightening to have a loved one travel without a cell phone. Have a Merry Christmas, and a great time with them. :)

Oh and I would probably get lost in Atlanta..lol I could never drive through it DH does it all the time though. I guess it would be okay once you got use to it.

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 11:43 pm:

Phew! I haven't been at my computer all day and was hoping there would be good news at the end of the thread!

By Missmudd on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 11:45 pm:

If you give them a cell phone w/ no minutes, no contract, they will always be able to call 911 from the phone, it is the law. I think also that you can call collect from them. The phone would not have a phn number but at least it would give them security for real emergancies. Our womans shelter was asking for donations of old cell phones w/ their charges because of this, if a woman could not afford a phone at least if the abusive husband showed up she could call 911. Maybe one of you or your family members have an old cell phn they could donate.

Also Tracfone has a prepaid card that you can put on their phones that will make the phone good for 1 year so you would not have to renew every 2 months, they could mostly just buy the minutes they needed when they needed them. Someware on this page is a thread about prepaid phones.

Very happy that it turned out ok.

I just saw this too after not being online all night. I'm so glad that your grandparents are safe and sound.

By Tunnia on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 08:38 am:

Thank you so much! You are all so nice and I really appreciate the prayers and kind words! I can't remember the last time I have been that worried. I'm not sure that I have ever been that worried before. I have a close relationship with my grandparents even though we don't live near each other now. I grew up living within four miles of them and they were always a big part of my life.

I will tell my Mom about the tracfone so she can check into it and about getting phone just for 911 purposes. They really should have a cell phone with them at all times IMO.

By Kernkate on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 08:49 am:
