Can you believe it??

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2004: Can you believe it??
By Pamt on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 06:27 pm:

It's a Christmas miracle! We have a 20% chance of snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in deep south Louisiana. Not much of a chance, but we'll take what we can get. :) And...we'll awaken to a windchill between 7-12* on Christmas morning. That's unheard of here, but will sure help it be a merry Christmas for us, esp. since we miss our Missouri weather so much. DH has to get some firewood tomorrow b/c we can actually use our fireplace over the weekend. WOOHOO!!

By Paulas on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 06:34 pm:

I'm glad you are happy! Check out our weather for the next 5 days:

http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/forecast/city_e.html?YPE

Now, the -22C is without a wind chill...that's -7.6F for you Americans :)

It has been bitter cold!

By Conni on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 06:56 pm:

Well, they said we would have 2-4 inches here in Northwest Arkansas today. I'm still waiting for it... Saw it spit a little. But certainly no 2-4 inches. :( It is soooooo cold here I can take the cold but I CANT handle the cold wind. Yuk. Blake and I made our shopping trip really short today and just came back home. I have been keeping wood on the fire all day (which is good for me because I usually forget and let it die out! lol) ...

I hope you get to have a white christmas Pam!! :)

By Kolbysmom on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 06:58 pm:

I wish our snow would go away. We've already gotten 10-12 inches today and are expected to get at least 10-12 more!! Yuck! I'm glad you're excited about the possibility of snow!!

By Cat on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 07:58 pm:

They were saying less than an inch last night and less than an inch today here. We've probably got about 6" out there and it's still snowing!!! We're supposed to get a couple more inches in the next day or two. Bring it on! :)

By Kate on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 08:52 pm:

Pamela, Pamela, Pamela....sigh....you're a sad case!!! :)

By Cocoabutter on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 08:59 pm:

In Michigan we only have a couple of inches of snow on the ground. ONLY a couple. Usually by now we have more. Over the last ten years or so snow has held off until the middle of December. Dec. is almost over. Where's the snow? HOW am I supposed to make a SNOWMAN without any SNOW????

I'm with Cat-- Bring it ON! :)

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 09:12 pm:

Pam, we can't even use our fireplace because the chimney/flue has to be cleaned out. :-(

My sister arrives the evening of Christmas Eve and is renting a car at the airport. I need to alert her to the *possible* road conditions.

By Palmbchprincess on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 - 10:46 pm:

We're being forcast for about a 30% chance of snow on the 24th... it's BITTER cold tonight, and if it stays this way I won't be surprised if we do get that snow Christmas Eve. It might actually be nice since Nate and I are both REALLY homesick, but couldn't go to either of our respective Northern states this year!

By Bobbie~moderatr on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 01:18 am:

Okay ya all can have all the snow you want....

"A winter storm warning remains in effect for Marion County until noon Thursday, according to a press release from Bailey. The National Weather Service has advised the possibility of 12 to 18 inches of snow accumulation by Thursday morning. There is also the prediction of drifting snow that will develop sunrise on Thursday morning."

We already have over a foot of snow and it is coming down like MAD.....

Lets just say, I have plenty of fire wood, plenty of food and no where to go THANK HEAVENS!!! However, the kids will not be getting stocking this year... This bad mommy waited to long and now I have no choice but to for go the tradition.. Dh and the kids shoveled us out off and on through out the day and you can't even tell. My poor dogs can't even get out past the spot the screen door clears when you PUSH it open. I will not be dreaming of a WHITE Christmas I will be living it... So much for holiday celebrations...

By Bobbie~moderatr on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 01:46 am:

I took a couple of pictures out my front door and posted them on photo sharing. It is dark out but you get the just of what it is like right now. I will take more pictures tomorrow and post them tomorrow night.

14 inches.. and it is still coming down..

By Kittycat_26 on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 07:56 am:

Okay, I may be asking for trouble but here it goes any ways.

We've got 50 degree temps at 8am this morning in Northern Maryland. I can live without the snow but could we at least have some winter temps.

Waaaaaaa! It's just not Christmas if you can wear shorts!

By Bellajoe on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 08:38 am:

Amanda, i understand what you mean. It wouldn't be Christmas if you could wear shorts! That's unheard of here in NE Ohio.

Here we have about a foot of snow. It rained all night so now we have that lovely slushy gross snow. Two minutes ago i looked out the window and it was raining, now i just looked back out and guess what, it's snowing! Like we say here, if you don't like the weather, wait a 1/2 hour it will change! LOL It is supposed to be in the 30's today and they say it will snow the rest of the week.

By Tunnia on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 08:43 am:

I wish we had a chance of snow for Christmas. I grew up in the midwest and now that I live in the south I miss having a white Christmas, but I only want the snow for Christmas. Then it can go away.:) We get snow once every year or two, but it doesn't last long and it shuts down everything. Also, we do not get our snow until Jan or Feb. I agree, when it's warm it just doesn't feel like Christmas.

By Bobbie~moderatr on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 10:04 am:

Morning pictures on the photo sharing.. and I measure 14 inches but they are saying 15 I am not going all the way out in the yard for a better depth. LOL Lets just say, Blizzard conditions, level 3 weather emergency...

By Cat on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 10:08 am:

Sounds like fun, Bobbie. We've still got about 6" out there, but the wind is really blowing it all over, so there are some spots with no snow and you can see the grass and other spots that have a couple feet worth of drifts. Thankfully I work at home and dh is off today. He does have a couple places to go, but not until almost noon. I hope everyone with snow and nasty road conditions stays safe and warm today. We're sitting at 4 degrees now. BBBRRRRR!!!!! :)

By Pixie on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 04:42 pm:

We got about 20 inches here in about the mid western part of ohio....No issues on having a white christmas here! And due to the weather we got 5 days together instead of 4. Snow emergency no one allowed on the roads. They say they will only be plowing the very main roads today and won't start on anything else until noon tommorrow!!!! I still have some last minute shopping to do but nothing is open! The snow has stopped but the wind has not! I guess its more than the blizzard of '78, not that I know I wasn't born yet! It's also really cold, with the windchill we are in the negatives, and tomorrow its not supposed to get above 6 without windchill, with windchill its not going to be higher than -7 they say. Maybe I'll get to stay home on Christmas after all! I'll be posting some pictures soon!

By Pamt on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 07:48 pm:

Keep warm everyone!!

1,snowman

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 08:59 pm:

Well, we got a little bit of snow the other day. Now, we are just insanely cold. 4 with a windchill of -14 now, and -7 with a windchill of -20 to -25 in the morning. Brrr!

By Bobbie~moderatr on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 11:34 pm:

I live in North West Ohio and we actually have 20 inches of snow. It comes up past my knees. We did a heck of a lot of digging out today. Supposed to be bitter cold here too Dawn... Merry Christmas... Snowed in and Froozen...

By Marcia on Friday, December 24, 2004 - 01:38 am:

Bobbie, that's what we have, too. I did have to go out in it today, and it wasn't pretty!! I'll be going to church tomorrow night, but probably won't go anywhere during the day. It's cold, blowy, drifting snow, and it's a MESS!!
