What a pain hospitals can be!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2004: What a pain hospitals can be!

My son has JRA we go for check ups to the children's hospital 4-5 times in the past 18 months. We have had the same insurance for 14 years, worked for the same company etc. So it is time for a check up. So i call to schedule an appointment. I have my EOB from my insurance company, but not my card in hand. I don't know where my card is actually. Anyway, I have all of the info except a group number, I don't think my card has one actually, because we have a company owned insurance. So they won't let me schedule an appointment. I go through this everytime. It shouldn't be so hard. I have good insurance, I have used it everytime. I understand if I was a new patient, but geesh this is a pain. If there were another place to go I would, TX children's hospital is so ineffecient!

Sheesh, he is going to the same place that he has been before and they dont have his insurance info on file??.... This is just laziness. They were able to get paid the last time that he showed up, they should be able to figure out who they billed since the insurance is the same. I would ask to speak to the business office manager and tell her how frustrated you are and that they should have been able to get their stuff together to make the appt.

Inefficiency happens at our local hospital too. We've been going there for years and have always had the same insurance. Everytime we go into the ER or whatever they always have to re-enter our information and act like it's the first time they've entered us into the computer. It is such a hassle. You would think that they could just type in our name and have all the information pop up.

LOL actually that is just their policy. She asked if wanted to speak to her manager I said sure. She put me through to his line and he didn't even answer. Get this I called back a new person answered, made my appointment and didn't even ask for that information. Geesh! Even more fun, first available appt, March 5. I sure hope he is feeling better by then!

Ouch on the appt date, and like I said LAZY LAZY LAZY to the business office!! I used to work in a hospital business office and when I hear stuff like this it makes me crazy because I know how simple this should be. Good wishes and prayers for little guys good health.
