I got new shoes!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2004: I got new shoes!

To anyone else this may seem like a normal thing to do. Not for me!

You see, when it comes to tennis shoes I have no sense of style so I prefer to buy just plain old white shoes, specifically the ones Payless has been making for years. I bought my last pair in March of last year but soon after that they discontinued them. I wore those shoes until they couldn't possibly be worn anymore!:) I mean, I started to get a tiny hole in the toe area of my shoes and they definitely weren't white anymore! So, DH took me out yesterday and *made* me buy some, but as cheap as I am for myself since DD was born I wanted to find a pair of nice shoes for under $20.00. Not Happening! I looked at a pair of Jack Purcell's (for those who know what those are) but they were selling for $50.00... no way! We went to Macys and I finally ended up settling on a really cute pair of Roxy shoes that are all white for $30.00 and the only reason I bought them is because they were on sale from $50.00. So i'm happy and my feet don't feel so neglected anymore. I'm only cheap with my *everyday* shoes since they are worn quite frequently... now only if DH could go back and get those Coach snow boots I fell in love with for $130.00.... yeah, right! lol!

Just thought i'd share! :)

Congrats on your new shoes. ;) Enjoy!!

However, I cannot relate to this at all as I am a shoe-a-holic. A girl can never have enough shoes imo. ;)

By My2cuties on Monday, December 6, 2004 - 01:49 pm:

that's great. I haven't even bought a pair of tennis shoes in about 4 years, I just don't wear them, and when I go walking I just wear some of my comfy casual shoes. Good news though, glad you got some shoes. :)

Yeah 130 dollars seems steep (at least to me), the most expensive pair of shoes I have bought since me and dh have been married is $85. and that was when we first got married. lol

AAHHH...the feeling of new shoes...that feeling never diminishes from grade school. Especially for us girls...
I think that when women go to heaven, God has got a whole room of shoes for us! Ha ha ha! Now that's heaven!!

I love shoes.

I am sorta mourning the passing of the flip flop season. :(

I only wear athletic shoes, so I like to spend at least 30-40 on them. I have dress shoes, but only rarely wear those! Even for work, I have white athletic shoes! LOL! Avia is my favorite brand right now.

If you ever want to REALLY treat yourself, get yourself and great pair of shoes. The sticker shock will kill you, but get past it and buy them! I bought a pair of leather sandals 3 years ago for 180.00 and I about died doing it, but dh made me. LOL Those shoes are the most comfortable things I have ever had on in my life. They look as good as they day I bought them too. I just wish I could wear them all year long. Might look a little funny in the Ohio snow with my sandals on though. LOL Like everything, you get what you pay for and there is a difference between regular shoes and the expensive.

And Boxzgrl, I know the shoes from Payless that your talking about. They were my favorite too!! Dh used to work there years ago as a district manager and that is when I started getting them! Can't go wrong with all white tennis shoes!!

I am horrible about buying new shoes too! I'm picky, but HATE spending the money for new tennis shoes. My mom sent me money for my bday in September, to get new sneakers. I found a pair of Nikes I really liked for about $5, on sale from $80. FYI, if you watch Foot Locker they frequently have 2 pairs for $80. Shoes for you and DH, at a fairly reasonable price! :)

I never buy new shoes, either! LOL

I bought a pair of Danskos a few years ago and they still look great and are my most comfortable shoes. It was hard to spend that much money on shoes though..

Congrats. on your new shoes. I am pretty picky too. I bought a pair of nice all white K-Swiss shoes for only $25.00. They were half off.

By Jelygu on Monday, December 6, 2004 - 06:03 pm:

I love shoes! I don't have near as many as I used to (my dogs like to eat them) but I buy them whenever I can. I am also mourning the end of flip-flop season, those are my favorites!

By Tink on Monday, December 6, 2004 - 06:21 pm:

I'm not a shoe-aholic but I wear tennis shoes about 5 days a week so I will spend up to about $50 on them every 6-9 months. I love K-Swiss and Addidas for quality for the cost. I haven't bought another brand for about 5 years. And I usually get my shoes at the Foot Locker sale that Crystal is talking about. I think I need a new pair, it's been about 6 months! :)

By Pamt on Monday, December 6, 2004 - 07:32 pm:

How exciting!! I rarely buy new shoes too. I have a size 10 AAA foot (aka "skis"), so it is very hard to find shoes that even fit, so I couldn't be a shoe-a-holic even if I wanted to. I do really need a new pair of sneakers and I want a pair of tall black boots. I love Shoe Carnival's frequent "by one, get one 1/2 off" sales. That's where we buy all of our shoes.

By Breann on Monday, December 6, 2004 - 08:00 pm:

Shoes are my weakness, no comment :)

By Feona on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 - 08:45 am:

Oh no your feet are important. If your shoes are no good then your knees hurt, then your hips then your arms and shoulders.

By Kaye on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 - 08:48 am:

I will go cheap on dress shoes that you only wear an hour or so, but for tennis shoes I go all out! I wear Ryka's, these are the best shoes known to womankind..LOL. they only make shoes for women, they have narrower heals and wider toe boxes. I pay about 80-100 dollars every 6 months, but they very rarely change styles, i go in and buy the exact same pair, same size and call it go. I love my shoes! Of course in the summer I wear Birks. Everything else I get at payless!
