how long it will take a letter to get from Atlanta, Georgia to New York City? I have a letter I am mailing today that has to be in NYC by this Friday (Dec 3rd deadline). Do I have a chance at all to beat the deadline? TIA

I would send it express mail if it is something really important that absolutely has to be there by then. I believe but I am not sure you will have to ask the post office but with express I think you get delivery confirmation as well.

Ordinarily I would say you'd be OK, but the post office does NOT guarantee a delivery date, on express mail or anything else. If you want a reasonably firm guarantee, I would use FedEx or UPS. Their two-day delivery is not more (or much more) expensive than the post office express mail and, sorry to say, I have more faith in them.

Still, if you want to go with just first class mail, mailing it Monday it should be in New York City and delivered before Friday.

With my insurance bill I send it from CA to GA and it has gotten there and cleared my bank within 3-4 days, but it always works that way with bills anyhow! I think the post office and bill people have a secret service going on, lol!

I'd send it UPS or FedEx on 2nd day air if its something really important. But if they will take the stamped date as proof that it was sent before the 3rd i'd send it regular mail.

Thanks everyone. I sent it first class mail and I'll keep my fingers crossed.
