Cancelled travel plans :(

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2004: Cancelled travel plans :(
By Janet on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 06:03 pm:

Well, we were supposed to take dd to meet her dad so she could spend Thanksgiving with them, but this snowstorm just socked us in and we had to come home. We ended up in the ditch, but dh managed to drive through a field and get us back up on the road--talk about scared to death! It took us almost 45 min. just to get 12 miles, and dh said no way are we going on. I called my ex and of course they weren't having any snow, so I sounded like a big alarmist. Dd cried all the way back home, and now we are thinking we won't even be able to go tomorrow to my mom & dad's. It all depends on the roads. What a lousy day this turned out to be. BUT....I am VERY thankful that we didn't get stranded, or worse, and are safe in our warm home!

I'm so sorry that it turned out this way.Especially when your child is so excited to see her dad.But thank God you all are ok.I had a young relative killed this morning, leaving behind 2 young sons. You just never know when these things are going to happen.

Aw, Janet, I am sorry for your dd! You live close to where I used to live don't you? I used to live in Washington. I wish I could see the snow! I hope dd can visit her Dad soon. Thank God you guys are OK!

Janet, don't you live in Illinois??? I live in a Northwest suburb of Chicago. We got about 4-5 inches of snow and there was lots of ice on the roads last night. Definitely, not a good travel night. I am so sorry your plans got cancelled. But, it is definitely not worth getting stuck somewhere. The roads seem to be clear here today. I hope you get to your Mom and Dad's.
