I'm bummed.... :(

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2004: I'm bummed.... :(

While DD was sleeping last night one of her earrings came out. I keep trying to put it back in but I think the hole closed up. If it is, I don't want to put her through piercing them at this age, that would be torture for her. :( This is a major bummer for me! :(

How long ago were they pierced?

By Boxzgrl on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 12:02 pm:

About this time last year. I wouldn't think they would close up so quickly after getting pierced so long but I tried poking it through both sides and it seems as if the back if closing up, but not the front. Hopefully you understood what I just said.

Try doing it when she is in the tub. My dd's both had their ears pierced at 4 months and we have had to put earrings back in on occasion. It seems to do better when the skin is wet. She will also be distracted so she won't notice. It should poke right back through. Sometimes the hole isn't straight, so as you are putting the earring back in try wiggling it around while you are putting it through the hole. It sounds gross but it usually doesn't hurt at all... Good luck!

I tried putting it through again and it started bleeding a little. I give up! I'm really grossed out by piercing stuff, when she had her ears done DH was the one who would always clean them and rotate it in her ear. DH told me to numb her ear with an ice cube and try but i've put her through so much trying to get it back it. I don't want her to bleed again.

Woo-Hoo, I finally did it. I'm such a dork! :) I took Candis' advice about the ear being wet so I didn't give her a bath I just soaked it in water and fiddled around and it finally went through. I'm so glad, I wasn't quite ready to make the decision of whether to get them re pierced or let her do it later.

Melissa, does she have screw-back earrings? When Jen was that age, and up until she was 4 or 5, I only bought the screw-back earrings for her, that way I didn't have to worry about the backs falling off. I'd still check them every day, but they'd have to come unscrewed to come off.

I am so glad. I don't know why I get weak kneed on things like that.

By Imamommyx4 on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 12:06 am:

It's silly to get so weak kneed, but...
dd was 2 1/2 before I'd even cut her fingernails. Made dh do it cuz I was afraid I'd hurt her.
