Timing could not be better - "found" money

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2004: Timing could not be better - "found" money
By Ginny~moderator on Friday, November 19, 2004 - 05:45 pm:

I applied for and have been receiving Social Security since February 2004 (turned 65 last December). I just got a notice from SS that they recalculated my benefit based on new income information and are sending me a check for $1500+ for the difference between what I have been getting and what was due me. Plus, my benefit goes up $35, not including the cost of living increase coming in January.

Since I have to buy a car, and my insurance company totaled my car for a net to me of $450, the timing could not be better.

Wow! What perfect timing! That's great that you will be getting this at a time when you really need it.

:) GREAT NEWS :) !!! A well-timed miracle!

That is wonderful...what kind of car are you planning on getting?

By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, November 20, 2004 - 03:57 am:

Andi, the cheapest serviceable car I can. Actually, I am looking for a Toyota or Honda under $7,000 with reasonable mileage and history. I am starting today. I asked my middle son to help me, as he is the one who has bought the most cars, but it turns out that his wife, my wonderful dil, is the one in their family who is car smart and knows how to buy cars, do the research, haggle, etc., and she has offered to help me. Another reason I love this woman.

Good choices, Ginny. Between DH and I, we have owned 5 Hondas and they get my vote for reliability.
