Looking for a song/video/lyrics...Country? Christian?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2004: Looking for a song/video/lyrics...Country? Christian?
By Kim on Sunday, November 14, 2004 - 06:47 pm:

A few months ago when I was in church we watched a video as part of the lesson. It was about a little boy and his Dad leaves and he is really upset. I think it is something about his father's arms. And then he realizes he was always in his Father's arms, obviously meaning Jesus/God. Has anyone seen or heard this? I cannot find the video or even the name of the song. Would appreciate any help!

Any of these fit the bill?

As a Child
Bob Clayton

"Hug me! Hug me!" the little girl cried,
As she tugged at her mother's skirt,
Arms reaching up for her mother's attention,
Crying and pleading and hurt.
So the mother turned away from her grown-up conversation
To lift the child up in her arms,
To wipe away the tears and give her her love,
Giving her a love so warm.

Chorus:

You've got to tug at God's skirt like your mother's,
Hold to God's hand like your Dad.
Trust in God's love as a little child,
For the wholeness that we've never had --
The wholeness and peace that we've never had.

"I don't want to go to bed!" the little boy said,
As he struck out and kicked at his dad.
"You know that you have to -- it's way past your bed-time,
Don't make your daddy mad!"
So father held son till all the rage had left him,
And the hot tears stopped running so free;
Then the boy fell asleep in his father's arms,
Trusting the love he could see.

Chorus:

The older we grow, the more we think we know,
As years are piled onto years.
We've forgotten to trust like a child in our hearts,
Replacing all that love with our fears.
And when we make mistakes or get into trouble,
We tremble at the debt that we owe,
And forget to tug at our loving mother's skirt,
Or take the hand of the father we know.

Chorus:

Downtown
Sarah Masen

when i'm standing close
to the clouds at fear and doubt
i reach out my hand
to the love that pulls me out
i hop in my car that takes me down the road
that leads me straight into my Father's arms

when i'm flying deep
into the clouds of fear and doubt
i speak loud Your name
in the midst of my defeat
i run to my car and travel down the road
that leads me straight into my Father's arms

i go driving downtown
sitting close to fate
i go driving downtown
where i find Your grace
i go driving downtown

when i'm falling back
through a past of fear and doubt
i reach hard for truth
underneath this inbetween
i look for Your lead and follow down the road
that leads me closer to my Father's arms

when i'm flying close
into the clouds of fear and doubt
i reach hard far truth
in the midst of my defeat
i run to my car that takes me down the road
of grace and freedom in my Father's arms

in the middle of our human condition
is the emerald city of our saving provision
and we wrestle and struggle
till we can hardly stand
and we drive downtown into that praying land
but what we want most is home
what we want most is home

If I Fall Lyrics
Alice Martineau

Memories of a little girl
In my perfect world
Won't cry
No need to know the reasons why

My faith is so easy
In my carefree world
I'd jump into my father's arms
Trusting that I'd be unharmed

If I cry
If I fall
Into your arms tonight
Will you be there
And say that you care

If I try
If I call
Call out your name tonight
Will you be there (will you be there)
Will you say that you care (say that you care)

My eyes so full of light
So keen to do it right
Impatient to be grown
Not yet frightened of being alone

If I cry
If I fall
Into your arms tonight
Will you be there
And say that you care

Wrapped in my daydreams (wrapped in my daydreams)
Searching my history for reason
I'm all alone
I've never felt so alone
Alone

If I cry
If I fall
Into your arms tonight
Will you be there
And say that you care

If I try
If I call
Call out your name tonight
Will you be there (will you be there)
Will you say that you care (say that you care)

I've never felt so alone
Alone

My eyes so full of light
So keen to do it right

(Ahhhhhhh, Ahhhhhhhh)

Finally Home

I am here alone, in the falling snow,
And the wind, it cools my tears.
I have been so wrong,
I have turned away, but the road was long,
And finally I have come to my knees,
I want to be…

Where I can walk,
Where I can run,
Where my heart sings,
And I feel the sun,
Where I can trust,
And I'm strong enough,
Free like the wind,
I'll run into my Father's arms,
I'm finally home!

Oh the winds of change,
They blow slow and cool!
Oh the wandering of a fool,
But I have laid it down,
In my Father's hands,
Where the weight of suffering,
Is carried by the arms of a cross,
Healing my loss…

Where I can walk,
Where I can run,
Where my heart sings,
And I feel the sun,
Where I can trust,
And I'm strong enough,
Free like the wind,
I'll run into my Father's arms

Heaven has reached into my lonely soul.
Loving so deep, and so complete,
'Til I don't feel alone.
Where the light of love is burning,
Where the past is washed away,
Where I feel the sunlight shining on my face!
Now I can

Walk!
Now I can run,
Now my heart sings,
And I feel the sun,
Now I can trust,
And I'm strong enough,
Free like the wind,
I'll run into my Father's arms,
I'm finally home!

Now I can trust,
And I'm strong enough,
Free like the wind I run,
Into my Father's arms
I'm finally home
